Have any of the ladies on here had issues with their cycle? I had surgery (GB) on September 7th, I was on my period before surgery and I’m still on it! It’s extremely heavy, I’m also on blood thinners…. Has anyone else experienced this?

I wasn’t on it for surgery but when I did get it it lasted longer than normal and I also had breakthrough bleeding in between. It normalized after around the third month.

Oh thank god! I have been on it for about 2.5 weeks at this point and was starting to get really worried!

extremely common. Estrogen is stored in fat cells, and it's released during rapid weight loss. Lots of women report screwed up cycles and moodiness. It'll stabilize within a few months.

I had the worst period of my life after surgery. Mine are always a little iffy as to timing, but I really wasn't due for another week and a half. Normally I have very light periods and mild cramps. I had horrible cramping and clotting, super heavy flow and it lasted for TEN days. I am so over it and hope next month will be back to normal.

All that excess oestrogen stored in your fat cells is released into your blood stream as you lose weight. Longer/shorter, heavier/lighter, more/less frequent cycles, more or fewer PMT symptoms can happen. For about a year all my menopausal symptoms disappeared … they all came back though unfortunately.

You can also become more fertile so be careful. Many surgeons recommend doubling down on contraceptives while you are losing.

I have my tubes tied thankfully 😃

I had started mine the day before surgery. I was also on blood thinners. That cycle lasted 7 days. I had about a 10 day break and then it came back with a vengeance for two weeks… so roughly 3 out of 4 weeks I had a heavy period. Cramps were horrible with heavy clotting.

I was told to watch my cycles and if it continued to check in with my gyn, but also told that it’s not out of the ordinary to have cycle disturbance early in.

Also got the “very fertile” time warning but I have my tubes tied and my hubby has a vasectomy - so we are clear there.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
