Manda32830 14 Posted September 10, 2022 (edited) Hi! I have surgery scheduled for October and received notice from my job there is an issue with my time off request. I have not been with my company long enough to qualify for use of extended illness time off, but instead may choose to use my PTO of which I have plenty. I am completely understanding of this. (My manager is amazing and will work with my decision.) Does anyone know in general (I know it may vary) how long the medical pre-approval lasts? I completed my final step in August. I realize part is now feeling I need to get some eating disorder therapy before I have surgery. There are times I am still out of control with my eating. And I’ve been thinking a lot about that…so this isn’t a terrible bit of news, in fact I think I feel a bit of relief, but I’m wondering how far I can push my surgery back…before I’d need to start the entire process over… (I am planning to call my surgeon Monday to discuss, but of course this presents itself Friday after hours.) Thank You, amanda Edited September 10, 2022 by Manda32830 1 summerseeker reacted to this
learn2cook 589 Posted September 13, 2022 That’s a good question. Did you find an answer? It took me a whole year to get a surgery date so I wouldn’t worry too much. Just keep taking care of yourself. I have found these things tend to work themselves out no matter the worry or no worries we put to them.
Manda32830 14 Posted September 19, 2022 I didn’t find an answer but my cold feet warmed back up. I think I was just chickening out. LOL. My boss had already approved my time off but it was delayed updating on the schedule so I panicked and took it as a sign. I have my pre op exam on Thursday so I am going to find the answer out of curiosity!
djhobbes 37 Posted September 19, 2022 My insurance company was (surprisingly) good to work with. My pre-approval was initially set for the first week in July, even though I hadn’t yet set a date. My surgery date was August 3, and my doctor’s office was able to resolve the issue with just a phone call. My insurance company also was good about allowing me an extra inpatient day past the approved one day. 1 Manda32830 reacted to this
