Hi everyone, I’m 4 weeks post op from a sleeve, how is everyone dealing with mood swings? I’ve lost my patience and can get snappy. Thanks Stuart

Though it’s not at all uncommon, I didn’t really have mood swings (anymore than usual I should say, lol). Anyways, I still wanted to say hello and welcome.

Thanks ShoppGirl, I think it was down to the lack of energy, I’ve struggled with eating 800 calories high Protein diet.

Hello and welcome!

I didn't have any emotional issues either. I do hear a lot of people do, I assume because your hormones may be all wacky from the huge change in your body. I am sure it will regulate and you will be feeling better soon.

Ooh I’m not certain that the lack of energy is entirely due to the reduced calories. Although I’m sure that plays a role I think it’s just our bodies are healing and we need more sleep. I was tired for a while too. I just gave into it and took lots of naps. Basically all you can really do. I’m not sure if I was still tired at 4 weeks post op but everyone recovers differently. It’s doesn’t last forever though. Just try to hang in there.

I have found that I am much calmer post-op. Perhaps it is a lack of glucose swings, and perhaps it is a lack of energy later in the day.

Hi, I was getting dizzy spells and got called back to hospital, my blood pressure is either high or low, tests showing my liver and kidneys were struggling, now I have a bit more energy as I move onto solid foods but still not feeling right. Onwards and upwards

I’m sorry. Did they find a reason for your symptoms or at least refer you to someone who can do some more tests? Is it related to surgery or just coincidence time wise? I am glad it sounds like you are feeling a bit better but if it were me I would still want some answers. Especially since you are still not feeling right.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
