Jack link's meat sticks

Recommended Posts

They're really high in sodium, but if your nutritionist doesn't have an issue with it and you're on solid food then it should be fine.

I have the small packets of his Beef Jerky all the time. Really high Protein, low in calories and portable.

Obviously not until you are approved for solid food but yes. Low calorie, high Protein and very portable foods make some of the best choices for Snacks and that certainly fits the bill. Just watch the sodium if that’s a concern for you.

beef jerkey like that i eat all the time. Tho you need to look at the label most of those sticks are not 1 serving but typically 2-5 servings which really sucks lmao

I like Stubbs ones too, as well as the Takis meat sticks...in the absence of other options, jerky/meat Snacks can be a lifesaver.

If you happen upon Epic Bars, they're sort of a similar thing but they're softer and have about half as much salt (I LOVE the bison cranberry ones).

I ride a motorcycle and sometimes when I stop, the choices at the gas station are pretty slim pickins but almost every gas station has Jerky. (I wouldn't make them too regular of an indulgence because, as others have said, they're quite high in sodium...but in a pinch you could do worse!)

I have beef Jerky packs in my desk at work for the days I'm not up to pack a lunch or running after work. You will need to be on solid food and like the others said watch the sodium.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
