Jennalulu 1 Posted August 28, 2022 Hey guys! I was wondering if anyone can help me out. I am 11 days post vsg. I need to start taking my Multivitamin ASAP but its a capsule. Opening the capsule and taking it with Clear Liquids was a fail. Does anyone take their multivitamin capsule as is? 1 KimA-GA reacted to this
I♡BypassedMyPhatAss♡ 804 Posted August 28, 2022 Bariatric chewable vitamins might be easier for you this early post op. 1 KimA-GA reacted to this
LookingForward22 320 Posted August 28, 2022 I have some small capsules I take ok as is (my Vitamin D) … and smaller pills that go down ok. Most of my supplements and Vitamins are chewable though. They were easier for me 1 KimA-GA reacted to this
ShoppGirl 5,024 Posted August 28, 2022 (edited) I did chewable ones early out and then switched to capsules. That being said, I was taking small pills without issue the day after surgery in the hospital. I’m not sure if I could have swallowed a capsule. I would run it by my team. How long until you can have yogurt or apple sauce? It may be a lot easier to get it down that way Edited August 28, 2022 by ShoppGirl 1 KimA-GA reacted to this
Muffinman1119 84 Posted August 29, 2022 I took chewables for about a month. Now, I think I’ll stick to the capsules, because the chewables tend to be on the expensive side.
catwoman7 11,221 Posted August 29, 2022 I started with chewables as well.
suzecate 67 Posted August 29, 2022 My providers insist on chewable vitamins at first (for how long, I can't recall). I have several Rx that are capsules, so I'm not sure why, but I trust them and do what they say. My forms: multi - chewable tablet calcium citrate - soft chew B12 - sublingual tablet My multis (Bariatric fusion cherry) taste nasty... I will switch to a 1-a-day capsule as soon as my doctors give the OK.
Arabesque 7,442 Posted August 29, 2022 I took capsules without a problem. They had me taking tablets in hospital even though I had a lot of swelling for the first couple of days. I had to take 2 Multi Vitamins, a Vitamin D, a PPI & my HRT so I spread out when I took them - morning & night - so I wasn’t having to swallow one or two at a time. SuziDavis 546 Posted August 29, 2022 I would stick to Capsules, I am going to switch over to them. The chewable are so gross, I throw up every morning from them.
I♡BypassedMyPhatAss♡ 804 Posted August 29, 2022 I'm six weeks post op tomorrow and I switched to capsules about ten days ago and have had no issues. The chewables are gross and overpriced. I just couldn't bring myself to order another bottle of chewables for $30. I can get a three month supply of capsules for less than the cost of one month of chewables. I was supposed to remain on chewables for three months, but oh well, lol.
