Anyone been through the process with guys and st Thomas /Kings college?

Recommended Posts

Ive been referred for wls at guys and st Thomas. Im a little confused. So thanks to covid thibgs have changed and i know its a long wait for the NHS. I did the online session with the dietitians and psychologist as group session. Got a f2f at the hospital recently were they did the bmi, bloods medical history and talk to the dietitian. They said i don't have to complete tier 3 as ive done tge equivalent before seeing them. My bmi is 57 so they said it would straight to surgical options. Got sent the copy of the letter they send to your gp with all the blood results and medical and Kings obesity score on and at the bottom it says

Outcome - attended f2f, discharge, bariatric mdt

Does that mean its going to the surgeons to consider or that i didn't meet the criteria and have been discharged altogether etc etc. That 1 line in the whole thing is bugging me beyond belief. Anyone got any insight into their process or had similar and what was your outcome?

MDT = multi - disciplinary team?

Bariatric MTD perhaps mean you are to undertake some further actions with staff whose specialty is bariatric services? Doesn't sound like its all finished yet to me, but yes, its all guesses/speculation until you speak to the relevant person.

So i found the diabetes abd endocrinology department in there eebsute abd it has a small bit about there weight loss process abd a contract email

I email them and someone replied saying my mdt meeting where your discussed by all the professionals (psychology, surgeon and Dietitians). Is in November. I was warned that the surgeons might still require me to do stuff before hand so i dobt think its going to be easy but im not currently sure.

This was the reply.

Surgical times are lengthy, but please wait for 1) your letter from us, which should confirm if you’re being referred at this stage or not, and 2) your surgical outpatient review – the surgical team will be able to advise on waiting times

So really im not much the wiser other then just hanging in there and waiting until the mdt meeting. At my face to face appointment they did say i there was a long waiting time.

I wasn't given any treatment or medication from my appointment. Only my blood results in the letter i git after my face to face appointment witg the diabetes and endocrinology clinic. Which i have to contact my gp over to sort out.

Sorry its not much help. Here the link to the info on there pages i found.

I definitely didn't go through that. I would definitely remember this process. I had a normal college and I didn’t have such jokes. Didn't have time for this whole thing, I already found articles about Water pollution, used https://sampleon.com/free-essays/water-pollution/ for that. I don't think it's necessary to do all of this. I would like to know more about this.

A very strange thing.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
