I Am SO Mad at Myself

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery on July 20th and intially lost 24 lbs. I had my first fill on October 10th and have had bouts of throwing up buy have not lost any weight and during the holidays I have put back on 12 lbs. So I have basically gone through all this pain and expense to lose a grand total of 12 lbs. If I had it to do over again, I would just find a good alternative diet and maybe spent my money on Jenny Craig or something. This has been a total waste of money and time...:whoo:

Sorry for being direct, but this isn't supposed to be a magic band -- self control, determination and discipline is needed to have success. I am a new bandster, but my doctor was clear about this before he put the band on -- that if I didn't diet, exercise and be committed to the band, I would fail in my goal. The band is supposed to be an aid to us, not an end all cure all.

I am sorry you feel this way, but buckle down -- mind over matter, you can do this!

Baydaz

I had surgery on 7/17 and have lost 55.5 lbs - Imho - this isn't a waste of $$$

What you have to do is make up your mind to eat healthy, take small bites - chew like crazy and take your time eating - If I eat too fast I will pb on pudding...

Yes this is work but did you think it wouldn't be... The band isn't the cure to our food issue - it will just help with Portion Control - and you can eat around it as you well know

What are you eating - what is your daily menu - how many calories - are you exercising - are you tracking or logging your calorie or keeping a food diary. the band doesn't make you lose weight - only you can acheive that - they banded your tummy and not your head - if they would find a band for our brains there would not be a fat person left in the world - cuz that' where the problem lies...

I have done it all jenny craig, weight watchers - medifast - you name it i have done - but all of those i looked at as a diet - I do not look at the band as a diet - cuz once you go off your diet - you say - oh ya i can eat again and once you do that you gain all your weight back and then some

After 52 yrs I finally got it - this is a lifetime lifestyle change - if you have a treat yourself increase your exercise or eat fewer calories at your next meal

The band is only and tool and for that tool to work you have to maintain it - go to your doc - discuss your frustrations get another fill - (i go for my 3rd on the 19th) talk to his nutritionst - You can do this -Good luck

I know exactly how you feel....I got banded on November 13th 2007. At this point I have the band and I am on Jenny Craig...why? because I have no self control, I can eat, eat and eat all day long everyday. You have to find something that works for you ( diet) and stick to it, then you will see the weight just melt off.

I have had months go by with no weight loss. It's extremely frustrating. However, now that nearly a year has passed, I am

down 55 lbs.

I tried dieting for 3 years, going to the gym and exercising every day, before I was banded. I would lose a couple lbs during the week, and gain it back every weekend.

You have your tool, and it will work for you if you have the right fill. But unfortunately, the band does not help with eating chocolate. I am not saying that you eat chocolate. I am saying I do. But when I don't, I lost slowly. I didn't though, until I got the right fill.

Hey baydaz, why did u have to wait almost 3 months to get your 1st fill? was it doctor ordered? i'm sorry that you haven't had the good effects of the band to losing weight. remember that its only a tool. i hope you reconsider, it is a good tool though!!!

Sounds like you need a fill and to call your dietician. Keep your chin up.

I know how hard it is to follow our band rules, but before I got banded, I researched it all, and I knew that this was not going to be an easy fix. Especially now with the holidays, and all the goodies laying around, but you have to get into the mindset of this is your life now, the band is just a tool to "help" us, not to do all the work for us. We still need to watch what we eat, how much we eat, and then exercise too. But re-evaluate your lifestyle, keep the junk food out of the house. I tell my son that I will buy him some junk food like Cookies, but he has to hide it in his room, or I will eat it. Works OK for now. Then pull up your boot straps and get back on the "band" wagon. And definately see your dietician and/or surgeon if it is needed. Good Luck. I know you have it in you to succeed in this.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
