bmorin09 0 Posted August 8, 2022 I never had diabetes prior to surgery and I’m wondering if I could now get it even though I have now lost so much weight ?
Tufflaw 465 Posted August 8, 2022 According to WebMD, Type 2 diabetes is primarily caused by obesity and an inactive lifestyle (in 90-95% of cases). By losing a lot of weight you've eliminated one cause, and if you stay active you'll eliminate the other. Do you have a specific reason for believing you're in danger of developing diabetes? 1 summerseeker reacted to this
kcuster83 1,504 Posted August 8, 2022 Why do you think you have developed diabetes? Typically caused my being overweight but also by genetics. For the most part it can be controlled my diet and exercise but not always. Medication is needs a lot of the times. You should contact your PCP and be diagnosed so you can work on controlling it. Diabetes is a nasty disease that is not partial to anyone.
catwoman7 11,220 Posted August 8, 2022 (edited) I suppose there's a chance you could, but it's a lot less likely if you lose a lot of weight. Edited August 8, 2022 by catwoman7
