Did someone tell you that your shakes had to be room temperature? I was told to try all different temps of beverages and drink it however it goes down best. I have been drinking my Protein Shakes cold since day one. And if you are allowed caffeine try the premiere Protein caffe latte. It has caffeine in it. It’s very tasty.

Yes! The dr said to drink room temp, warm, hot only for the first week because if cold, it causes construction inside. Makes sense. So I went ahead and drank a cold Premier Protein shake and was fine. I am so hungry!!

So you tried the Protein Powder drinks hot? Like heat the Water up and then put the powder in it and stir? I would think that’s gross, but am willing to try anything! Thank you so much!

I did room temp water first then added hot water to the chocolate flavoured shakes. Pretended they were hot chocolate without the marshmallows. Took a lot of pretending though. 😁

Surgery 7/20 - 2 weeks liquid diet any suggestions?

Jello is your friend! It will let you at least have something solid but still counts as a liquid.

Hi. I’m new here. I’m hoping for some encouragement and advice. I had surgery yesterday, the 13th. I just got home today. I’m dealing with a severe headache and backache. Whenever I drink something (sip that is) I can feel it hit my stomach like a brick. So when I take my meds, I have to space them out so that it doesn’t make me sick. I have had some regret and am trying to stay positive. I like the Premier Protein drinks, but am having a hard tim with them needing to be room temperature. So how am I going to get Protein in my system, besides the very little broth I'm sipping? I’m drinking Gatorade zero and diet tea because I am use to a lot of caffeine and this is the best I can do. I’m assuming drinking and then laying down isn’t a good idea either. I keep getting what feels like hunger pangs.

I got really intense headaches in the morning when I woke up and at night. Felt like spikes being driven into my head. I found getting all my liquid in helped. Really pushing fluids. Also got better when I started eating full liquid and could have yogurt and such. I had surgery June 7th.

Headaches could be from dehydration or maybe caffeine withdrawal??

You could be getting dehydrated and your electrolytes are off. You could try combining Pedialyte and Water or Gatorade and water to help with that. Some people say to try and sip a little dill Pickle Juice. I haven’t tried it but I hear the brine has a lot of electrolytes. I tend to sip on Swansons sipping Bone Broth (chicken flavor) with a little salt in it since it’s so bland. It has more Protein AND you’re hydrating yourself in the process! If you start feeling really bad you might need an IV to rehydrate. Don’t hesitate to go to the ER if you feel really bad.

if dogmoms ideas don’t work and you think you are dehydrated but it’s not emergent yet try your doctor first. They should be able to arrange for you to get fluids as an out patient. Will save you another hospital bill. Of course if it gets bad or you can’t get a response from them go to the ER.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
