SleeveToBypass2023 2,650 Posted July 14, 2022 Can you have both together, or is it better to have them at different times/days? I knows there's some really good benefits with both, and I want to start incorporating them in my diet. But I can't really find anything that tells me if you can have them together or not. SleeverSk 635 Posted July 14, 2022 Yeah I am not sure about seeds I seem to recall something about not until after 6 months? I could be wrong though best to check with your team
ShoppGirl 5,003 Posted July 14, 2022 (edited) You made me curious so I tried googling it too. All I found was another absorption issue. I read that physic acid in seeds can affect the absorption of other minerals like Calcium and Iron. Only for a couple hours though actually it doesn’t specifically mention chia and flax seeds so maybe they don’t contain a lot. I guess some people soak them to reduce the acid. You may want to look a little further into it. Or maybe ask your nutritionist. https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/phytic-acid-101 Edited July 14, 2022 by ShoppGirl
SleeveToBypass2023 2,650 Posted July 14, 2022 My apologies. I meant to add that I'm looking into the ones that are already ground up, not whole seeds.
catwoman7 11,220 Posted July 14, 2022 I wouldn't think there would be an issue of having them both together, but check with your dietitian just to be sure. 1 SleeveToBypass2023 reacted to this
SleeveToBypass2023 2,650 Posted July 15, 2022 I talked to my surgeon's office and they said as long as they are ground up, it's fine to have both. There's so many health benefits to them, and there's A LOT of Fiber in them, so I've started incorporating them in my Breakfast and lunch (typically chia in the morning and flax in the afternoon). Just trying to do this right, you know? The healthier the better.
