Not really a question more of an observation and to see if anyone else experienced anything similar. So 10 days ago I got covid it wasn't to bad but I got a really sore throat lost my appetite and desire to drink mostly because it hurt so much but now I am having a hard time getting back into it. I can't stomach my morning coffee any more if fact I don't feel like drinking anything I feel nauseous most of the time and quite weak lack of food and drink. I am trying not to stress and I know it's still early days and most likely I am still recovering. I guess I am having a pity party but I want to feel better and get back to drinking and eating to help me feel better. On the plus side I have dropped 2 kg . Anyone else have covid effect them like this ?

Whenever I get sick my appetite falls through the floor, I lose it completely. It makes it very difficult to want to eat, let alone eat. Which throws every other health initiative out of whack. It can take weeks to recover from a 24 hour flu or cold. I've learned to force myself to eat but the best it does is reduce a 2 week issue to a 10 day issue.

So, yeah, the 'crud' as I call it feeds on itself, making a minor issue a longer term problem. I always write it up to the joy of being Tek.

I hope you have stronger will or character or whatever.

Good luck,

Tek

Thank you, I normally bounce back well after illnesses and this is my first illnesses since being sleeved and it has kinda rattled me a bit. Trying my best to eat and drink but it's so cold here ATM so that makes drinking even less appealing..good to know someone out there knows what I am going through thanks 😊

My husband just went through COVID recently and it kicked his butt. He was only actively feeling sick for about four days but he said he felt off for quite some time after. Its a weird little virus in how it hits everyone so different but just give it time. All you really can do. He didn’t really want to eat for a while either. Just said nothing sounded good. He made sure to at least force down a Protein Shake or two. Maybe warm up a chocolate one and drink it like hot cocoa. I haven’t ever tried that but it doesn’t sound too bad for cold weather. Feel better soon.

Try Bone Broth if you can. The warm liquids should help with your sore throat and it’ll provide much needed Protein.

I don’t really remember having a problem eating so much as everything smelled so strong which was odd because so may lose their taste and smell. But just give it some time and you will be feeling better.

I'm so sorry you're struggling. You probably already know this, but being dehydrated will cause you to feel worse in the long run, so you should try your best to drink as much as possible. I agree with others to try warm liquids (especially since it's cold). Try tea. For some people mint tea causes reflux, but for others it settles the stomach. There are so many wonderful varieties of tea in the US, and probably in your part of the world too.

I hope you feel better soon!

I was looking for a thread like this on Tuesday. I had to make myself eat a couple days into COVID, because I knew I needed the Protein even if I didn't feel like eating. It has gotten better, but I definitely am not on the same eating/drinking schedule I was last week yet. I am just trusting that if I keep doing what I can, my body will get there. Stupid COVID.

I think this was the worst part of having covid besides the sore throat, my appetite still isn't what it was but it's getting there. While we don't wish any illness on anyone it's nice to know we aren't alone. Hope you are feeling better 🌻

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
