lexie007 5 Posted July 9, 2022 I am four days post vsg. I have tried the Protein Drinks but they just taste terrible. Has anyone tried a pill Protein or recommend a Protein that pairs well with Soup broth. I feel like I’m starving.

lexie007 5 Posted July 9, 2022 Did it have a diet taste?

My best advice is to go to convenience stores and try the ones they have so you can buy just one of a few flavors to try. I♡BypassedMyPhatAss♡ 804 Posted July 9, 2022 (edited) I use the Premier Protein peach drinks and now I like the Fairlife Protein Shakes. They taste like milk. Flavored milk actually, but not as sweet as commerical flavored milks. The thing about Fairlife is, it's ultra filtered, so it filters out the excess sugars and lactose in milk. So there's no weird whey powders or that sort of egg Protein in it. I love them all. summerseeker 2,236 Posted July 9, 2022 Try full skim milk with extra dried milk powder stirred in. You can flavour them if you wish with fruit or Peanut Butter. Plenty of Protein and much better for you than artificial drinks 3 ShoppGirl, FutureSylph and Ky Griffin reacted to this
ShoppGirl 5,003 Posted July 9, 2022 Once you are allowed to have caffeine the premiere Protein caffe latte is really good too if you like coffee drinks. I am 16 months out and I still have one every morning cause I like the taste and it’s convenient to get a jump start on my protein. 1 lexie007 reacted to this

I have the caffe latte Premier Protein but I’m not allowed coffee yet. Saving if for then.

So currently boycotting but I was sooo about to try it!!! I saw the peach drink online and I was going to buy it but it’s a pack of them and I was afraid if not liking it. My mom just did her revision same day as me. Maybe she will drink if I don’t like. I wish I would have done this before getting sleeves so I’d feel more prepared. 1 Loriamen reacted to this

Esi 179 Posted July 10, 2022 I hate Protein Shakes, too! After surgery, they tasted too sweet and made me vomit. I tried to get my Protein from savory foods at first. Bone Broth with canned chicken, chewed very well, worked. However, initially I was not able to eat enough of this. What helped me was finding an unflavored Protein Powder, and mixing it into Soup, cream of wheat, etc. Try Syntrax unflavored protein powder. 3 Dogmom68, lexie007 and Starwarsandcupcakes reacted to this
Arabesque 7,414 Posted July 10, 2022 Yeah, the shakes can be disgusting. Bone broths, cream Soups, milk enriched with powdered milk, blend a high Protein yoghurt with milk to make a smoothie (add more milk to get it to a consistency you can tolerate), protein Water, are all great sources of protein as others have suggested. Even the strained broths from wonton Soup & pho are good additions. You can try making up your own shakes using unflavoured protein powders too. I struggled through one shake a day (very diluted to dull the taste) for the two weeks of liquids & then never touched another one. (Had soups for my other meal.) The only protein pills I’ve heard about contain very little protein - 2g. Not worth it to my thinking & I’m not sure if the protein is complex enough for our needs. 1 lexie007 reacted to this
