November 2022 Surgery Buddies

Recommended Posts

Anybody out there? I haven't scheduled yet, but it will certainly be in November. I'm still doing a little research, a bit nervous about traveling to Mexico by myself.

Can't wait to hear from others. Thanks and I will keep you posted.

It's possible I'll be having my surgery in November 2022 or December 2022. I'm going through the insurance approval steps. (6 months of classes and other required tests) I'll be able to submit to insurance at the end of November and will hear back in October. So, at that point we can schedule with the doctor who is booked out about 2-3 months.

I see you're in SC and so am I. So, we could be surgery month buddies or at least close! Good luck!

Nice. I'm scheduled with Dr. Antonetti at the Lexington Medical Center (well not scheduled yet), but after insurance approval I'll be getting scheduled.

November 23rd is my anniversary. So, I'll definitely be thinking of you when you have yours done!

Hi! I'm having my gastric bypass surgery on November 4, if everything falls into place. I am excited, but also very nervous. I am in Wisconsin, a long way away from South Carolina, but sure would enjoy some buddies!

Scheduled for my sleeve surgery on November 2nd. Final dietician appt in a couple of weeks and then a 3 days liquid diet prior to surgery. Nervous but I think it's long overdue. Haven't had many issues losing substantial weight, it's the keeping it off part that is tough. I think this is the tool that is needed to help me do so.

Good luck on your upcoming surgery! Yes, this tool is definitely going to help even though for the long run we all have to change majority of our bad habits to keep the weight off. Let us know how it goes!

Hi Crystal! I am also going to Mexico alone for surgery with Dr. Valenzuela. My surgery is scheduled for November 7th. I am very nervous but excited. I originally scheduled for April but decided to reschedule due to family issues. I look forward to us supporting each other on this journey. Good Luck!

Hi, I just got my surgery date yesterday. It will be November 28, 2022. I am having my surgery in my hometown of Las Vegas, NV. Dr. LaDuc at surgical weight control center is performing the surgery. I met with him yesterday and he was awesome, spent a good deal of time talking with me making sure I understood everything. I have another pre-op appointment in his office on 11-22-22, to make sure everything is in order and I have the right Proteins and Vitamins etc ready to go. This appointment is supposed to take about 3 hours so I think it will thorough and a big help.

i have a friend who went to Mexico for her surgery and she is doing great, I can't even remember seeing her overweight. You will do great as well.

Oh a three day liquid diet sounds fantastic. I have to do a two week liquid diet and it starts soon, my surgery date in November 28, 2022.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
