My balloon was inserted on June 24th. I’m on soft foods now. After 1/2 cup of food, I’m feeling so uncomfortable, full and bloated. Is this normal? . I sure hope it doesn’t last.

I don’t have a balloon but I’m pretty sure that is what it is supposed to do. It is a restrictive procedure. The key for us with sleeve is to try to stop before we get to that full point. Usually one extra bite and we are quite uncomfortable. What does your doctor say about the amount you can eat? If you were expecting to be able to eat a little more then I would call them and see if there is anything they can do but as long as you are able to get your Protein in I would assume it’s a good thing.

Okay I just did a quick google search and found these sample post op instructions. It looks like 1/2 cup is about when you should expect to feel full. Maybe measure out a bit less than half cup (divide it into four meals) until you can eat 1/2 cup comfortably.

Consume 5 to 6 small meals daily until you can tolerate ½ cup of food at one time – then eat 3 small meals and 1 snack. Avoid drinking liquids 30 minutes before a meal and 1 hour after a meal. Take 20-30 undistracted minutes to eat each meal. Continue to eat and swallow slowly

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
