NancySmiles 2 Posted February 6, 2005 Yikes!!! I thought my Hair loss was slowing down...but it's just as bad. I get it trimmed every 6-8 wks to freshen it up and keep it from being frizzy. I've read on the boards that extra Protein is the only way to help this problem. Any other suggestions? Vitamins? Doctors? HELP!!! I have been researching on the net....not much luck.... leatha_g 4 Posted February 6, 2005 Nioxin hair care products are being suggested, also.
Iluvharleys 15 Posted February 6, 2005 My Doctor told me Protein has nothing to do with it, it is hormones!
paula 4 Posted February 7, 2005 I found that the Source of Life liquid Vitamins (the one that Penni was telling us about) really helps me. When I take this Vitamin, my hair loss slows down. But, about 3 days of forgetting to take it, and I think Im gonna go bald - b/c Im losing so much hair. Good luck!
Guest Chofudeb Posted February 7, 2005 Nioxin products are very good, they promote a healthy scalp and that in turn helps with an assorment of issues, hair loss being one. It is a system line and you really do need to use the system and not just the Shampoo. Good luck, we all want a nice head of hair! Debbie
the best me 6 Posted February 7, 2005 When I was pregnant, I was taking prenatal Vitamins by Mellaluca (available through a rep, kinda like Shaklee) and the lady who cuts my hair went nuts over the growth and health of my hair. Should I get the band, my plan is to budget an extra $30 a month for those Mellaluca vitamins (they come non-prenatal too). That is, if it's possible to wash them through the band. The liquid vitamins listed above are a good option, but my past good experience with the Mellaluca makes me want to stick with those...high absorption rate. If you have Hair loss problems, I would definately start with a good Multi-Vitamin.< /p>
Mita 2 Posted February 7, 2005 Hi Nancy, I am using Nutri-ox ( Nitri- Cleaner) it is for thinning and fine hair. I got it at a Beauty Supply store and it has been helping me with my shedding. I still lose some but not quite so much as I was losing there for a bit. I use the Shampoo & Conditioner I think by curling my hair everyday with the curling Iron does not help matters any. Let me know if you find anything
Emmy27 1 Posted February 7, 2005 I have heard, and verified it with my doc, that taking zinc everyday can help. So, I suck on a zinc losenger everyday (for sore throats, must say ZINC). HTH - I haven't gotten there yet and I dread it.

NancySmiles 2 Posted February 7, 2005 you may be on to something with the thyroid thing though....but my TSH has been extremely low.....decreasing my dose lately.....I thought only if you have a n underactive thyroid it woudl fall out...since I am getting too much Thyroid hormone, i would think it would be the opposite....i dunno...may just wear my hats!!! ...sometimes thyroid function will affect hair; sometimes stress; sometimes the little gnome that lives under the coffee table will run in at night and pluck it out without you feeling it.... katerzz 4 Posted February 8, 2005 i was told to buy hair, skin and nail Vitamins. Thats what they are called.. you can get them at GNC or Walmart even. Protein doesnt help with Hair loss .. at least that ive ever heard of =)
tigk29 0 Posted February 8, 2005 I am having the same problem so I was told to take flax seed. You can get the small seeds and sprinkle them on your food or they make it in an oil which I mix with my Protein Drink each morning and after about 2 weeks I am noticing a slight difference. It has a nutty flavor so I mix it with chocolate boost which is very creamy and it goes down pretty good. Hang in there!
