Just to update everyone...I don't speak to them anymore. I have lost almost 70 pounds in 3 1/2 months. I work out, watch my diet, I'm strict about doing everything I'm supposed to. I take my Vitamins and supplements. And the last straw was when they told me my weight loss didn't count because I took the easy way out and let the surgery do all the work for me. They said anyone who has most of their stomach removed can drop a ton of weight, so I shouldn't be acting like I accomplished anything. That was it for me. I was done. And I haven't looked back since!!

I would love to see them stick to the pre and post op diets for even a week and then say that it’s the easy way out. Cutting ties with people is never easy but sometimes it’s necessary. I’m glad you put that unnecessary negativity behind you.

You feel this way. Being a very strong Christian I would never make anyone feel that they did something against GOD. I had the surgery at the end of September last year and have loss 95 pounds I also had a hip replacement, had 4 COVID shots and believe that our GOD us the intelligence to be able to help people with surgery and medicine.

I commend you for having the courage to have the surgery. I know I am proud of myself for having it and taking my life back!!

That makes me so mad for you. Good for you for cutting those people out of your life. This change is so hard! They have no idea what they are talking about.

I realize this post is older, but just wanted to say thank you for taking time to write it. As a Christian, I have also struggled with the notion that my body is a temple but that somehow I'm forsaking what He intended for me to be. I always try to hand over my battles to God. Now I feel tremendous relief knowing that He understands our struggles, so much so that He endorsed what many would call "drastic measures" to avoid sin and despair. Wow...this WLS journey is deeper than anyone can fathom!

As a Christian, I have also struggled with the notion that my body is a temple but that somehow I'm forsaking what He intended for me to be. I always try to hand over my battles to God. My mother and grandmother were hospital nurses. They said the hospitals ask this in case something in surgery goes sideways. Like they find cancer while in there… so to help provide support while you feel unwell some people do feel comfort in the rituals of religion. Obviously religion doesn’t comfort everyone. The hospital clergy also want to be warned to stay away if so directed. The records last if you go in years later for a different issue.
