Dealing with the Changes... Like Loose Skin

P.S. old timers on this forum are probably sick of seeing this photo, but this is me BEFORE I had plastic surgery. I lost over 200 lbs, so I had TONS of loose skin. See it there? No - I didn't think so. It's pretty easy to hide. And easy to get rid of if you want to pursue plastic surgery.

My mindset right now is that it's all worth it. I'm glad to see more people not feeling regret like others I have seen.

I live in the north of England where its mostly wet and cold so my loose skin is not really an issue but at the moment I am in Spain. Its hot. In the evening I can cover my arms but during the day in a swimsuit my arms are out for all to see and it does bother me. I have a 2 inch dangle on my bingo wings. As soon as I am at my set point these ugly things are coming off asap

I live in South Florida, USA... heat and humidity are a daily thing ...lol...😫

Not everyone has loose skin. So many factors play into it. I do not have any. Now in all fairness my goal is above normal BMI so I may Have some if I lost a great deal more but still it couldn’t have been much. I’m not saying don’t prepare yourself mentally for the possibility but it may not even happen.

Lol- I live in southern ca. while it isn’t humid… it is definitely hot and the skin folds do get sweaty. I was thinking I was fine…. Until summer hit. Now I am looking into skin removal. 😅

I am a little worried they won’t do it though. I would like a Tummy Tuck, arm lift and breast lift because those are the areas where I get rashes/pain, but I am at 155 pounds now and I am worried they will look at my weight ….. guesstimate the weight of loose skin to be removed….. then refuse to do it because it could push me into the underweight category bmi for my height 😬.
I’m trying to get in asap before we loose insurance again. 😑

fingers crossed at least some will be covered since I have a history of skin issues

Me too! Mine were awful. I had an arm lift and am so happy. I now feel comfortable in short sleeves, spaghetti straps, and even strapless dresses.

How are the scars from the armlift? Do have the kind running down the arm?! I think I wanna get an armlift too but kinda worried about the scar situation. I still wear sleeveless dresses and don't even care about the loose skin. But it definitely doesn't look great especially when your arms are up in the air or when you're trying to pose as you have in the pic 😂

Hello! I am prepping for my surgery date, Aug. 17th, and just thinking about things that i worry about. I have seen so many people complain and have regrets due to their skin after, how did you handle that? How did it effect you?

I have lost 30 pounds, and have 70 to go. So far I’m okay and the loose skin issue has not appeared. It will, but it hasn’t yet. I’ve decided to deal with it when the time comes. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
