Feels pretty good, had a minor set back on soft veggies cuz I forgot the "seed" rule and thought I wad gonna die...so I've back tracked for a few days and feeling better.

Weight loss has been slow (SW 250, CW 238, GW 150). Hoping it speeds up some, but I guess steady weight off is permanent weight off. Just thought it would be faster.

First post-op visit is next Wednesday so I see what happens then.

12 lbs in nine days isn't slow. Most "normal" WLS patients (meaning not the types on "My 600 lb Life") seem to lose about 15-25 lbs the first month after surgery (and it slows down after that). So you're right on track!

At your surgery day weight, that isn't slow at all. Why did you think it would be faster? Your own expectations or someone else?

Sounds like your doing great. Just keep it up and the weight will come off before you know it.

At your surgery date weight, those are high expectations. Certainly puts the pressure on you particularly given a lot of people experience a stall 3 or 4 weeks post op.. You are doing great as you are and don't let your doctor tell you otherwise.

Even with such an optimistic estimate, the math says you're still beating that time. Twelve pounds off in nine days -- if you maintain that loss rate (and I'm not suggesting that you should), you'll have easily surpassed 30 pounds off in a month.

it would be the exception, not the rule, for someone at your starting weight to lose 30 lbs the first month. If you weighed well over 300 lbs, then yea - but I'm very surprised she told you that with your starting weight. Not that it couldn't happen, but it's not very realistic. I hate to question your doctor, but I've been hanging out on bariatric forums for over seven years, and also volunteered at my clinic for about four years. As I said, that's definitely not impossible, but it'd be the exception to lose that much weight given your starting weight.

P.S. is this your PCP or your bariatric surgeon telling you this? If the latter, I'd be very surprised. I guess I wouldn't be as shocked at a PCP saying that, since they're not specialists in bariatric surgery.

Yeah, I agree with everyone else, you're doing *really* well. Don't tie yourself to a particular expectation and don't get hung up on a particular rate of weight loss - it's so variable. I would say stick to the rules and the surgery will allow you to lose weight. Good luck xx

Soft vegetables on day nine? My nutritionist says clear to thick liquids, like Protein Shakes, on week two. I'm genuinely curious because I'm starving so if I can try other things, soft smooshy things, I might do so. Because I have zero energy and am exhausted on just Clear Liquids and Protein shakes.

Ya I've been on soft veggies, Soup, yogurt, pudding, juice ice chunks, since last week. I haven't had any issues, just have to go slow so as to not get over full

I am 10 days post opp( week 2), thin liquids as well with cream Soups, pudding, Greek yogurt. Soft veggies are not on my list till week 3 with Puréed but every surgeon/nutritionist is different. As long as you are tolerating it should be fine.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
