mysticcrow 1 Posted June 15, 2022 I bought the Bariatric Fusion multi Vitamin chewable. I have to take 4 a day. They're making me nauseous when I take them and they don't taste great. Does anyone have any recommendations for other Multivitamins? Also can I take over the counter ones?? catwoman7 11,220 Posted June 15, 2022 a lot of people take over the counter ones. I've been taking Centrum (or the generic equivalent) since I had surgery seven years ago - the chewables the first year or so, then the regular tablets. If you do over the counter, you usually have to take two of them, though.
summerseeker 2,240 Posted June 15, 2022 I take supermarket branded ones. One in the morning and one in the evening, after food. Always separate your doses through the day
lizonaplane 1,613 Posted June 15, 2022 I also get nauseous from the multivitamins. It's very common. Make sure you have a good amount of food in your stomach, and I find if I take it right before bed then lie down, it's better... I don't throw up TOO often 😕 I just started trying ProCare Health without Iron, and it MIGHT be better, but I still need the iron, so not sure what to do about that. (also, I couldn't tolerate the chewables - they were so gross! so I started with the capsules two weeks after surgery. They're big pills, but I don't have any issues swallowing pills)

I've tried three different brands of Vitamins, including a non-bariatric Vitamin, and they all make me sick. I think it's me.
Flab-U-Less Forever 140 Posted June 15, 2022 I use the Bariatric Advantage multi chew w/o Iron (fruit flavored assorted). The first two days I thought they were gross but now I don't mind them at all. They do not make me nauseous.
Sleeve_Me_Alone 656 Posted June 15, 2022 I take the ProCare one a day capsule and don't have any issues with it. All the chewables I tried made me sick as a dog.
kcuster83 1,504 Posted June 15, 2022 I don't know if you are allowed to swallow capsules yet but I take these, and only 1 per day. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07HZ3YQ5X/ref=ox_sc_saved_image_4?smid=A2BW0FNFHPE2GN&psc=1 I have only had my 3 month blood work so far but everything checked out. So I can't say long term yet but they were recommended to me by someone 3 yrs post-op and her blood work is also good. I also take 1 Calcium a day.

But have you tried the lower dose of Iron? For most people it seems to be the iron that causes the issue. Obviously if you can tolerate it some iron is better than none. It is slightly better without iron, but I've always been deficient in iron, so I need to take it with iron 1 ShoppGirl reacted to this

They make me nausous sometimes. But its typically when i dont eat something. But best thing is to take it right before bed. That way you in bed when the nausea hits. I typically keep a ice pack as well after i take it. It helps a ton to put it on my head
Starwarsandcupcakes 2,070 Posted June 16, 2022 I take 2 one a day Multivitamin gummies with a separate b-12, calcium/vitamin d chew, and Iron around dinner every night. Swallowing any huge pill or capsule is off putting to me. I get my labs drawn every 3-6 months and they’ve always come back fine.
