Nausea as a fullness indicator?

Recommended Posts

I am 3.5 weeks post op RNY. I am still on the pureed food stage. I am finding that I don't have restriction yet, but I do start to get nauseous as I get full. It's a pretty solid stop sign, but I am still learning to perceive it quickly enough. Do other people have this reaction? Does it last, or should I be looking forward to different fun in the next food stage?

I get nauseous if I get way too full. But as I'm getting full, I get hiccups and sometimes sneeze. I'm 9 months out exactly.

I am the same way. No real full indicator unless I am over full and then I feel like I am going to vomit. Good news for me is I don’t get full on the portions that I should be eating so as long as I measure my food it doesn’t Happen.

I thought too full too. Try to eat until you’ve had enough - do you need that next bite or just want it? (When you’ve almost finished your portion, slow right down & really think about your next bites.) During the surgery a lot of nerves are cut so the messages of fullness don’t work as well & for many when they do the signals can be different. (Some sneeze or their nose runs.) The message you’re full takes time to get through & often by the time you start to feel full you’ve actually had too much. You’ll find there’s a lot of new things to learn about your eating & how your body reacts.
