I had surgery Monday it Wednesday and I’m so miserable. I’m sorry I choose this. Is any one have ideas to survive these first days?

Just know that it gets better! It helped me to be really organized tracking my Water and Protein Shake intake, and having a little project to keep my mind off things in those first few days (I had a big kind of goofy paint by numbers poster I worked on). The first three days were the worst and then each day after that I felt a little better and a little better. Hang in there, you’ll get there.

I colored and used my Fitbit to track my Water. I mindlessly watched YouTube videos. Do whatever it takes to pass the time. It gets better each day. You’ll be so happy to sleep in your own bed (day 4 for me). Then I was so happy when I could get out of a chair easily, (day 5). I made a habit of watching sunsets and being grateful for another day done. Then the weight really starts to come off, and you’re not even hungry. Going up stairs after two weeks feels like floating. It will get better.

I had mine Tuesday. I had the feeling also. It will get better. Just take it one day at a time. I think of it as a new birth a new beginning. You just have to retrain you body how to eat and your mind how to think. It would also help to get some therapy and an accountability partner. God bless you on your new journey.

I agree 100% hang in there. Youtube is/was my best friend. Go down those rabbit holes LOL. It will get easier and then better~

No you didn’t make a mistake, yes you did the right thing! I promise. Now you just have this to distract you from the thing that was making you miserable in the first place that made you want to get the surgery. So you can’t turn to that for comfort now.

Give yourself a lot of grace and visualize yoke healing. I walked, sat when I was pushing it too much. I had a heating pad which was heavenly. Tylenol was my friend, the one with narcotics in it lol I chewed on Gas X like sweet tarts. I loved hot tea, sugar free popsicles.

everyone is 10000% correct that you are going to feel amazing. Distract yourself as much as you can. I’m 3 1/2 months out and I love my restriction. It helps me focus, it’s reset my hormones. My cholesterol is almost 200 points down.

sending hugs and healing your way.

Thank you For encouragement. I just got back from having iv treatments today. Trying to stay motivated. Trying to remember why I choose this. That’s one thing it does. Changes your taste buds and no hunger. Which is hard

I had my vsg 4 days ago and I’ve been having issues with the bloating and air, it seems stuck in my chest and I can’t seem to drink so much Water, I have walked and walked but sometimes just feel this discomfort in my stomach. What can I do please?

So sorry. I had that too so bad. I tap my chest lightly til it burps. Drink room temperature or warm Water cause it causes less tightness in the esophagus. Water is tough. I felt like someone was sitting on my chest. But finally went away. Im a slow healer but I think I’ve turned the corner 11 days post op. Everyone says it will be worth it. We dog gone done and done it. So let’s hang in there and hope for the best life yet to come. 💕💕 God bless

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
