I am in week 4 post-op. Looks like I'm getting anywhere between 400-850 calories per day. Struggling to get my Water in this week and, sometimes, my Protein if I'm not careful about tracking my progress throughout the day. I've resorted to using a timer every 15 min to cue me to drink and to stop/start 30 min before and after meals.

I'm seven years out, but we were told not to count calories the first year. You're able to eat so little - and your Protein needs are so high - that there's no way you're taking in very many calories.

I didn’t count calories but did do random checks for my own curiosity. I was eating less than 300 the first month. Was around 800/900 when reached maintenance at 6months on a good day. I eat about 1400 now at 3 years (but I’m not very active). But that is me. You’ll notice a fair bit of variation in what people could do & what then what they need to do to maintain.

Some plans really push to increase calorie intake while others like mine don’t. If your plan doesn’t specify specific caloric plan but you’d feel more comfortable & confident with what you’re doing with caloric advice, ask your dietician &/or surgeon for some additional guidance. Remember though, you can only eat what you can physically eat.

Otherwise, focus more on getting your Protein (& water) in & watch portion sizes & food choices.

6.75 months post op and I eat 1000ish calories on weekdays and 1200ish at weekends (alcohol). I still track every bite that goes into my mouth :D I know lots of people don't or don't have to. I have lost approximately 2lbs per week since my surgery, give or take.

I love these types of posts. Always good to see what everyone else is doing. I'm at 10.5 months, averaging 967 calories per day. I track everything because it's enlightening and fun for me but I am envious of those who can intuitively eat, which I know for a fact, I can not. Every month I've been upping my average calories till I get to a comfortable maintenance level. It'll probably be about 1400 to 1600 calories based on calculating what I'm eating & losing the past couple of months.

I track everything I eat on MYPlate because it keeps me honest. I'm almost 4 months out and average 800-1200 calories a day. I've lost 30 lbs so far, this isn't much but before surgery was losing 1/2 pound a month, so not complaining!

Heading into 5 weeks out from surgery and my calories are anywhwere from 480-700 per day. I focus more on getting 70-80 grams of Protein per day and meeting my Water goals.

I'm 4 months and some post op from gastric bypass. I average about 950 calories a day although some days I can barely reach 700 and others I can have 1200. It just depends on my restriction. I always aim for 60-80 grams of Protein but im happy if I can get 60 in a day.

I'm nearly 3 months post op and I eat between 1100 and 1300 calories a day.

I've never stalled in my post op weight loss and my surgeon, dietician and I believe it's because I eat this level of calories.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
