For me I am only supposed to take in 400-600 calories until I hit stage 4 after 3 months. Then it’s 600-800 calories til 6 months, then 800-1000 from 6-12 months. After that I should be 1000 - 1200 calories for life. I’ve seen others go up to 1000 this early so it could have to do with starting weight, amount to loose, etc. but I’d double check that. Aside from that, there is a well known stall around week 4 (some have it at week 2 or 4). Stick with the program your surgeon gave you and you’ll be fine.

Good luck today. After they get the IV in, it's easy-peasy. Make sure to give us an update when you feel up to it.

Just an observation. I was cleaning out my in-box and had a half dozen food e-mails that I subscribe to (Command Cooking, All recipes, Cooking Professionally, Easier Eats, etc.). I did not realize how many I am subscribed to.

While I won't unsubscribe, I think I will make a rule to throw these e-mails in an archive folder for now. Why add misery to my post-op recovery?

Have a great day July 2022 Peeps!

Kevin

Good luck today @Kakinse !

Hope everyone post op is doing well!

One week post op for me today and I'm back to work as of this morning. I am just working from my home office today but I'll be commuting into Seattle tomorrow.

Still have the remnants of gas pain at the top of a deep breath but it's manageable. No pain meds except Tylenol for the past 2 days, and I removed my JP drain tube (under nurse instruction) myself on Monday. That was the weirdest experience!

Full liquids until Saturday, then pureed food for a week for me. I'm looking forward to chewing something but that's more mental than hunger. Seems I've been fortunate with the (lack of) hunger hormone.

I have my post op appointment via telemed this afternoon and I'm hoping to be able to get on the Peloton for a few minutes at a time starting today.

Cay

Hey all. Just wanted to post a 1 week update. I have dropped 12.6 lbs since surgery last Thursday. And when I include my pre-op weight loss, I'm down 40 lbs total. I am definitely happy with my progress and anxious to see where this goes in the coming weeks. My 3XL shirts are fitting much looser and I'll need to see where we put the 2XLs this weekend.

I'm tracking my food, Protein and Water in my MFP app. It looks like I'm only consuming 450-500 calories a day. I am not doing a good job of tracking my water yet, but I'm trying to get with the program. I think I'm getting 6 cups (3 bottles) or 50 oz per day, so I need to remember to do better at some point.

Today I moved on from clear liquid to full liquid, but I haven't done anything too different as of yet. I am putting a full day of work (from home office), so I didn't have much time to prepare anything different at lunch. Maybe I'll get a little more creative this evening. I did have one of those chocolate Fairlife Protein Shakes for my Breakfast. Those taste really good, so I I savored it. I will go back to my BodyTech 24 Protein Powder and water when I work from home and save the premade Protein Drinks when I'm on the go.

Overall, I think I'm on track with this thing. No regrets. Heading out for a walk now. Go July Peeps!

Great Job Kevin! Thanks for your updates I go in July 27th and it is good to hear positive updates from a week out. The closer it gets the more nervous I get. Keep up the good work and what app are you using to keep up your intake?

Hi everyone. I’m 2 weeks away from surgery. I’m now second guessing this decision. Friends are trying to convince me that my sleeve procedure will cause long term effects on my organs. Liver/kidneys. I have done all of my prep and I was excited. I honestly didn’t tell Anyone I was going to get the surgery until recently. afraid of the negative feedback.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
