Sleeping in bed Vz, sleeping in recliner

Recommended Posts

My revision from sleeve to bypass is on June 9th, my question is , is it easier to get out of bed or recliner? Recliner seems like it would pul on stomach to get in and out of. Please let me know your experience.

Thank you

Honestly, it depends on the bed and recliner.

Since you don't have a recliner you can test drive it pre-op to see how easy it is to get up.

[ETA: I didn't have a recliner. I had an open surgery with all the staples and drains that implies, along with new and exciting adventures in pain with every movement. A recliner seems like it might have helped, but I'm not sure it would have been worth the expense or trouble of getting one.]

Good luck,

Tek

I didn't have a recliner - I just propped up a few pillows. It worked OK. Although I know some people liked having a recliner.

P.S. when I had my lower body lift (which was a lot more painful), I bought a wedge pillow - that worked pretty well, too...

I could not do a bed for several weeks. recline was much easier and the first week of surgery i required help to get out of the recliner to get up.

Recliner is easier. I’m still using mine since I can’t lift it back to its
Original home downstairs yet (15lb weight limit). I couldn’t get out of bed comfortably until this week. I’m 5 weeks post op.

I slept in a bed from day one, and I don't recall using pillows to elevate. I did arrange some hugging pillows since I sleep on my side but that was about it.

I have an adjustable bed and I always sleep with my head sorta elevated and I’m certain that helped getting in and out of bed. A wedge pillow would do the same thing I would think.
