Band07 374 Posted May 26, 2022 I’m 7 years post op but occasionally when I drink something sweet I get An all over sickness after just a couple of sips . It’s hard to describe except for complete misery . It lasts about 20 mins and then I’m fine . Other days I drink a bottle of wine and no issues at all . Anyone else have this or know why it happens only sometimes ?
liveaboard15 1,293 Posted May 26, 2022 the sugar maybe? Since liquids tend to not stay in the tiny stomach long and go into the small intestine quickly causing a light dumping syndrome?
Band07 374 Posted May 26, 2022 I’ve had dumping lots of times from eating too many sweets or even sweets on an empty stomach but the symptoms from that are completely different froM this. This is a head to toe miserable body ache . I imagine It’s what poison would feel like if it was moving through my blood stream but it only lasts about 20 mins. Arabesque 7,414 Posted May 26, 2022 Are the sweet drinks diet? Just wondered if it’s a reaction to an artificial sweetener??? Wine is sweet naturally from the fructose in the grapes. 🤷🏻♀️ I’d just drink wine all the time so you don’t get sick. 😉😁😁 1 Cara_luvnlite reacted to this
catwoman7 11,220 Posted May 26, 2022 I would guess the sugar. It does that to me sometimes as well.

Years ago, pre-wls, long long time ago, I used to experience something similar with red colored alcoholic drinks. I have no idea what caused it or why but it wasn't fun. I'd be achy and sore almost like a fever or flu - but then it would pass. Edited May 26, 2022 by LilaNicole20
oldandtired 238 Posted June 2, 2022 Same here. Sometimes. Getting better, overall, but hoo boy, those times when it hits. It's the processed sugar. I LOVE sweet southern tea, and can't have it anymore...
Band07 374 Posted June 2, 2022 I drink unsweet tea or use Monk Fruit but I had a huge donut this morning and no issues with that . It’s all very strange how some things effect us and others don’t.
