Bigdaddyjoe70 5 Posted May 22, 2022 Hi everyoneI am one week till my surgery and I am having a hard time with keeping on my liquid diet. My diabetes is giving me problems. I can't seen to keep my level in the right range. I have been drinking Glucerna and Premiere Protein Drinks plus Carnation Instant Breakfast drunks. Any suggestions ?Watching the rest of my family eat solid food is really hard , plus I am really scared of the surgery. Any advice from anyone ?Sent from my LM-Q730 using BariatricPal mobile app 1 summerseeker reacted to this
catwoman7 11,220 Posted May 22, 2022 I thought the liquid diet was the worst part of the whole ordeal. You just have to white knuckle it to get through it. Although in your case, if you're having a hard time keeping your glucose level in the right range, I'd contact your surgeon's office and let them know. being nervous before surgeries is pretty common. I've had four surgeries, and I freak out every time - but they've always gone really well. 1 Bigdaddyjoe70 reacted to this
liveaboard15 1,293 Posted May 22, 2022 idk if it would work for you the one my hospital recommended for diabetics was the boost glucose control shakes. But if you cant control your sugar i would call your surgeons office and let them know maybe they can give you additional things you can eat. Mine did. They allowed 1 small meal a day for those that were having issues. Typically was lean meats like chicken or fish with a tiny amount of veggies. 1 Bigdaddyjoe70 reacted to this
james2021 160 Posted May 22, 2022 (edited) the liquid diet is awful. all i could do was hold onto the thought of how terrible it would be to get put under, have them see my liver wasn't in good shape, and wake up with no sleeve -- after everything.
