First day of soft food

Recommended Posts

Wow! eating Is definitely different now. This morning I had one scrambled egg with a tiny bit of mozzarella cheese. For lunch and supper for had 3oz of tuna. (Tuna had egg, light mayo and sweet relish). I did ok with the egg but the tuna wasn't easy to eat. I had a yogurt between lunch and dinner. Im still confused on how much im supposed to eat. My book lays out meal plans. But I could barely eat 3oz of tuna. I can't imagine eating anything else with it. How long does it take you to eat 3oz of food. My book says to expect to take 30 minutes to eat. But I'm done in 10 to 15 minutes. Am I eating too fast?

so i can only eat about 3-4 oz each time. at first it took me almost an hour to finish one pouch of tuna. Now 4 weeks out takes me about 20-30 minutes. I just take small bites, chew chew chew and wait a few minutes before taking another. I currently eat quail eggs instead of chicken eggs. they are smaller. Chicken egg takes me a while to eat and is basically 2 meals. I typically cook a small amount of turkey sausage, onions and 2 quail eggs. (which is what i am currently eating right now lol) (this pic was my meal from yesterday). This will take me about 45 minutes or so which sucks because it gets cold

Wow I must be doing something wrong. Because I can eat 1 egg in 10 minutes 😭. Same with tuna. But the tuna did hurt.

lol we are all different. Tuna was my first meal on soft foods and it was awesome. No issues at all. I just make sure to chew very well. at least 20-30 times each bite.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
