How often do you guys weigh yourselves?

Recommended Posts

I weigh *almost* every day, in the morning, after I pee, in panties and nothing else. (Why? I don't know-I just do, lol) Sometimes, when I hit a stall, I will stick out my tongue at the scale, but...😄

I vary… I usually weigh myself in the morning. I only record my weight on Tuesdays (my surgery was on a Tuesday).

Occasionally I will jump on to get an idea of how much I fluctuate throughout the day, but that’s not an all the time thing. Like if I’m feeling bloated I might hope on or something like that.

I weight every day now and use the Happy scale app which gives me a running average of weight loss so it smoothes out the ups and downs.

I have a history of going for months conveniently "forgetting" to weigh and fooling myself into believing that I've only gained a little then when I get the nerve up, well you know the story. I even tried the Shapa scale which did not show a number, just a color based on the direction of your weight. Gained 30 pounds while I had that thing.

I totally get the reasons to not weigh often, however with the app averaging the weight for me I'm actually doing a good job learning to accept those ups and downs that used to sabotage me mentally. Living with my reality instead of putting my head in the sand like I used to do. So for me, daily weighing is working.

Every morning, in my panties, after I pee, before I shower. I know it's not recommended but I like the loss and when I go up, I review what I had the day before. My app plays different music for going up and going down. Going down over a pound is a bunch of trumpets. Pretty incentive worthy!

Once a month right now. I don't want to drive myself crazy as my loss slows down over the next 6-9 months. Some days it's difficult to not get on the scale, but I try to tell myself that if I keep doing what I am supposed to be doing, the weight will keep coming off. And my clothes continue to fit differently, so I know something is happening.
I don't know what I will choose when I get to maintenance.

For the first year and a half I weighed every morning. My weight slowed down after that and for the last 6 months I've weighed once a week. I just started maintenance a month ago.
I weigh in my underwear and pj top after I pee first thing in the morning. I like having a little clothing on so I don't weigh completely differently when I do weigh at the doctor's office. That kind of thing can mess with my head sometimes.

Weighing with some clothes on so the doctors office isn't so different makes sense. Maybe when I start to slow down I'll do that.

Once a week, naked. Generally Wednesdays, the day of my surgery. I think the daily was discouraging.

I also weighted myself day of surgery at home, naked... when they weighed me at the hospital, I was 2 lbs more, but wearing jeans, a tee, sandals, etc.

I do every morning after morning pee in my underwear. I log in my computer . I like the fact I can see progress and if do not loose any then I try to do a bit more walking and do not over think it. I do know there will be times when I will stall and then drop again. Think long term and not short term. From 265.5 lbs two week before surgery and 250 day of surgery and today I'm at 242.8 lbs. 11 days after. I'm happy where I am and will continue to travel down my weight loss journey....

I weigh myself every morning because I Want to see the daily fluctuations. It helps me to see an average of how much I could fluctuate day to day and as long as the trend is still downward I'm good. But it helps to keep me accountable to weigh everyday. That way I can't cheat one day cause It'll be like we'll I'll still lose just not as much. NO I'll see it on the scale day to day.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
