So been trying to find a Vitamin that does not cause me nausea or make me throw up. Sure enough it was the amount of Iron in them. I switched from the 45mg of iron one to the 18mg of iron and no nausea, no vomiting.

The only problem is with that amount you may get low. I bet you could tolerate a lower dose of just Iron another time of day though. Just gotta still work it out where you take it all two hours away from the Calcium.

Yea I guess you can do that and see what your levels are at your 3 month appointment. Some people say they don’t need Vitamins aftet a year because they get them from food. I don’t know that I eat THAT great to get all the little micronutrients and stuff from food but just needing one Vitamin maybe you can do it.

I was on an iron pill before surgery and the surgeon told me to stop using it. It is hard on the guts so that makes sense. Also can cause Constipation. He said if I ended up needed iron, I would get it via IV infusion.

But, now that you mention it my multi also has iron. I guess I should ask him about that.

In 3 months the surgeon is ordering a round of blood test to see how i am doing so we shall see.

Also try taking any Iron about 20 mins before you lay down to sleep. I had to do that for a bit until my body adjusted to it but they had me on a pretty high dose of 65 mg of Iron with 500 mg of Vit c.

Iron intake can sometimes be a tricky aspect of post-bariatric surgery nutrition. It's good to see that adjusting the iron dosage has made a positive difference for you. Managing your vitamin and mineral levels is crucial for your overall health after weight loss surgery.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
