Hi Suzy. Are you going with Dr. Shillingford? I just had an outstanding experience with both him and the Coral Springs medical center. I recommend 100%. I’m six weeks out, never really experienced any pain or discomfort other than a little bit at the incision sites, and I’m down about 24 pounds. Best of luck!

I live in Maryland and had a pretty good experience with a wonderful surgeon here. My surgery was covered by my insurance. I paid $2000 oop for my surgery and post-op care at the hospital. I've come to learn that very few are rejected by my insurance company (UHC) and all that is required from them is a certain BMI and a psych clearance. Being close to home made pre- and post-op appointments very easy.

Renew Bariatrics in Tijuana is where I ended up going. Dr Perez. Omg AMAZING! They have a very active FB group too. Love it!! On it all day every day lol anyway, stitches dissolve on their own. No need for follow-ups really. Pretty quick n ez procedure n I'm 3 weeks post op as of Saturday. I pulled the trigger shortly after making this post - down 23 lbs so far🎉

When & where did you have sutures removed? Follow up care? I’m looking at Dr. Ilian in Tijuana but getting nervous.

All of my follow up care will be with my family Physician. My surgery is 7/9. Doing my pre op diet now.

Dr Green I heard is AMAZINGLY AMAZING!! And he does his surgery at CER Hospital which I heard was beyond beautiful. You will be in great hands! Are you a part of the FB group!!??? If not, ask your coordinator. It's by invite only. And be ready to get bombarded with info! I post a bunch on there too. Everyone does. Such a nice little community. Full of before and after pics and everyone's experiences. You did well picking Renew and Dr Green. Everyone RAVES about him. Let me see if I can post pics on here....🤔

1st pic -me waiting for surgery. 2nd pic, Perez comes in to tell me I'm next 😬. 3rd n 4th pic, post incisions. He said my liver was very small so they only did 2 incisions and a drain hole. Last pic is me leaving 2 days later. I felt GREAT the whole time. No pain. No nothin. 6/4 surgery date. 195 pre op. 5'6. 32 BMI. Down to 172 right now. Want to lose 20 more! Doing light workouts already (stairs + jogging)

Doesn’t look like Renew Bariatrics does the mini gastric bypass. If any of you had this procedure in Mexico, where did you go?

Stay in USA for this surgery is something coming wrong not doctor in USA will take you I have my in florida for 12,000

This is not true. I talked to my surgeon and he takes patients that went outside the country. If anything was to happen and was serious I would go to the ED.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
