Has anyone had their surgery in Bend Oregon? Dr. Koning did my procedure and it has been great. Bend Oregon has a great hospital and the staff was great!:clap2:

I had my surgery in August with a doctor in Olympia, WA, but I am really tight and live in Redmond. I was wondering if you knew if he did his fills (or in my case an unfill) under fluoro. I am going to call tomorrow, but thought you might have the answer tonight.

Thanks in advance.

I hope all is going well with you since your banding. I live 4 hours away from Bend, so I was looking for some online support from others who have been banded in Bend.

Best wishes.

I just moved to Bend a month ago and I start a new job December 1st. I am not sure what health insurance they have or if it covers any type of weight loss surgery. I don't qualify for benefits until after 90 days. I want to get this process going but am currently low income without insurance. Any help out there? I will be praying, thanks!

Good luck with your new job and congrats on moving to Bend. I hope everything works out for you  I would recommend finding out what insurance u will have and then u can go to their website to see their medical policies on gastric bypass surgery. Also the employer should be able to give u a book of which procedures would be covered.. That is a place to start anyway.. stay in touch and welcome to bend

Well I'm somewhat discouraged because I just found out that my employer doesn't provide health insurance only some kind of medical discount program or something which i'm sure doesnt cover it. And I for sure can't afford it on my own. I heard Dr. Koning was good here in Bend. But my options are slim so I don't know where to go or what to do...

Gosh im sorry for that disheartening news.. There are still some options as far as financing goes if you can get a loan and then make monthly payments. i know one is care credit. Other is to get private insurance if you can, and one that would cover the surgery. Gl and please keep us updated.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
