You got this!! You're almost there!! I might have to separate myself from my family until I get through the pre-op. We have about 8 birthdays this August and it will have to be zoom calls. LOL Tell your family you will need a birthday party planned for after your post-op phase. When I had the sleeve we had a picnic type thing and they were serving root beer floats, I opted in getting diet root beer with ice cream. I was literally on the floor in the bathroom from dumping syndrome. It was the worse feeling! It truly is a mind game! I did a liquid diet last month but not a clear liquid diet and I was already feeling tortured.

8?! Holy cow! Zoom is a great idea!

I considered the delay in the birthday celebration, But I'm lucky enough I share a birthday with my dad and don't want to rain on his special day too. I'll be fine, I mostly joke that it's torture but I've figured out loopholes I'm still able to Celebrate & stay 100% faithful to my pre-op diet. Just looks a little different this year, haha.

I seriously dread the idea of having dumping syndrome. I've heard so many horror stories.

Anyone planning on Bone Broth for post op? Ive had a few options in my Amazon cart. 10g Protein per packet.

Of course i can make my own but i’d like some grab and go things too!

Yes! Swanson Sipping Bone Broth is a staple in my cabinet! I like just the plain chicken flavor even though I have to add some salt to it.

Guys, have any of you already purchase bariatric specific Vitamins? Right now I'm taking Centrum women's 1 a day and a different brand D3 and B12. I have deficiencies in both. But my doctor said no to the Centrum...I like gummies because I have a hard time swallowing the larger pills. Any suggestions?

Barimelts!!! I can’t take those large horse pills, either! BariMelts has been a lifesaver for me. I get the Multivitamin with Iron, the Biotin, the Calcium, and the probiotic. They’re all soft and chewable/meltable tablets in fruit flavors. If you Google Barimelts for coupon codes you can usually find some! I always use a coupon code when I order! They ship quickly, as well.

She said that they just want me to try to keep losing up until surgery to shrink my liver, but that they only require the liquid diet for 2 days pre op. Something about they already are depriving us from chewing post op so the surgeon doesn't do it before. ::shrugs::

I am scheduled August 29th for a revision from sleeve to bypass! I start the clear liquid diet August 15th and I am beyond nervous for that! My sleeve back in 2018 required no strict diet other than drinking magnesium citrate the night before. August is such a busy year for us as well! Birthdays and the big MInnesote State Fair. I am a faithful state fair goer...and it always runs from August 25th until Labor Day. I am contemplating on going just for the walk and to keep myself busy but the smell of food will definitely torture me!

I feel your pain on the state fair, I'll be having my surgery right as Kentucky's begins. I usually compete and I'm going to miss that this year. Homemade candy is my specialty so that was *right out* this year lol It will give someone else the chance to win those ribbons this year I guess :) And next year I'll be in much better shape to walk around the exhibits!

For those who have started the preop diet… Have you started taking Miralax or something similar? I’m terrified of getting constipated, but I can’t decide if I should start now…

Hi everyone. My sleeve is scheduled for the 16th of August and I started my pre-op diet today. I on 3 shakes a day, 1 piece of fruit and unlimited non-starchy veggies (plus all the diet drinks, black coffee and diet jelly I can eat). I'm extraordinarily lucky as my husband volunteered to do the diet with me in solidarity. I hope we don't kill each other!

I started my pre-op liquid diet today, VSG is scheduled on 8/8. I haven’t started taking Miralax, yet. I was assuming that was just for post-op, I guess I need to double check on that! I’m so hungry though, this is going to be a LONG 2wks

I've started the pre op diet. I'm 8 days in and am borderline needing to take it. I've never really needed to take anything for those issues until the last 3 months and the one time I did I felt like I was dieing because it didn't sit with me well. 😒

That's super kind of him!

Some days I feel totally fine and 0 issues. Other days I feel like I could gnaw my arm off. I know I'm a raging b***h by the end of the day some days and usually by 7pm I could pass out I'm so exhausted.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
