Hooray, I finally made it to the puréed stage! So many choices that it was hard to decide. I had 1% cottage cheese with two teaspoons of puréed pineapple. My stomach did fine, but my head got a little dizzy towards the end. Probably a blood sugar spike. It was worth it! I’m going to try refried Beans (runny) with cheese for dinner.< /span>

Today is three weeks from my sleeve surgery. I’ve only lost 10 pounds since my surgery, but 29 pounds overall. I can really feel the difference in my legs when we go for a walk and no more body aches. We walked a steep hill in our neighborhood yesterday and I didn’t have to stop to catch my breath. It’s weird because I look the same when I see myself in the mirror, but I feel thinner. I really thought that the weight was going to just “fall off” faster. I have to accept that this journey is going to take a while and I need to be patient.

Its interesting to see the differences from surgeon to surgeon because i am 2 weeks from surgery and i am now on soft foods as of today like scrambled eggs, tuna, chicken ect... I had my follow up appointment today too and they were asking how i did with the soft foods.

You’ve been around here for a while but just in case have you heard of the ricotta bake. I lived off of that while on purée phase. If you like lasagna you will like the ricotta bake.

Oh yes, I know about the amazing ricotta bake! When I looked up the ricotta bake recipe, it was recommended for SOFT STAGE because of the egg. I can’t have eggs until soft stage. I keep reading about how eggs are a problem food for so many people, so I’m okay with waiting.

I know, the inconsistencies with food stages is ridiculous. It actually made me depressed last week when I read how quickly some people get to start eating puréed. I was feeling pretty sorry for myself and spent the entire day in my pajamas, LOL. It’s funny how the dumbest things can make me emotional. I can’t wait for my hormones to level out again.

Ooh there are several recipes and some do not have egg. Mine didn’t. https://bariatricbits.com/single-serve-baked-ricotta/

Careful with the beans...they gave me some wicked gas pains the first time I ate them.

During the soft phase I really went for the tuna salad, chicken salad and egg salad. I still very frequently eat these 3 things because they are easy to eat for me. The tuna is my favorite because of the high Protein. When I eat egg salad I usually supplement the protein with some Unjury Protein Drink.

HOORAY for you! I had refried Beans for dinner. I added 1/2 cup of Fairlife milk to the entire can of beans (heated). It wasn’t runny. Then I added a big pinch of cheese to my individual serving in the bowl. It was amazing! No stomach issues at all. I’ve been eating Campbells bean and bacon Soup (blended) for the past two weeks, so my stomach is totally used to beans.

YESSSS, that’s my plan as well. I love tuna salad with egg. I’m also thinking about trying potato salad in the soft phase. It’s kinda high in fat, but for a lousy 1/2 cup serving, I don’t care. I will think of it as a special treat. My family will eat the rest of it anyhow.

I took your advice and made the ricotta bake for dinner. I decided adding one egg is fine because it’s blended into the cheese. I also added 2 oz. of ground turkey. OMG, so good! It was like eating lasagna. And it has 15 grams of Protein. I could live on this (like you said). Photo below was taken after I took a serving.

Today was the first day of purée. I made egg salad. Really just eggs and mayo with some mustard. I did great. But I wasn’t mentally ready for it I swear. 1/4 of a cup is where I am to be. That took so long to eat. But I have to say it was nice to eat something. Tonight I m having some Soup.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
