Recommended Posts

I was cleared two months ago with all my tricare select insurance requirements and labs but Now my doctor’s office told me that tricare requieres an audit of my record and probably take long time with tricare. Whattt???? That is pre authorization? I’m very confused!!!!

tricare select requires that you have proof that You were unsuccessful with non-surgical medical treatments for obesity. Your medical records must show your failed attempts.
Diet programs, such as Weight Watchers and Jenny Craig, are acceptable methods of dietary management, as long as there are monthly clinical visits with your doctor and medical documentation of your participation and your progress throughout the course of the dietary program.

Is that maybe what they want to know or did you already provide that?

Can you go to the VA or are you a dependant? Mine was done at the VA and they were wonderful.

I’m Dependant. Now, I received a msg from the nurse and she told me that my Dr. Leaves the practice on June and I need a new doctor because he is booked up. First I was confused and now I’m frustrated.

I would not worry about it. I have Tricare as well and I was approved. The review is not going to be anything earth shattering, mine went through in a couple days. I paid less than 200 dollars total for my entire surgery. Hang in there...breathe.

Tricare approved me in 24hrs. I think the whole story was the clinic not the insurance. They submit my chart yesterday and today morning was approved! Crazyyy!!!!

Great to hear. We all get a little worried when we get so close. It would be devastating to have the surgery denied after going through the process.

I also had problems with this, and they probably want you to renew that sheet. I understand you have them all, but try to find out what they need again - you can let them know again that you have that sheet.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
