November Nymphs Lets Talk Weight Loss!

Recommended Posts

Shortgal, I bought a couple of new tops to tide me over but will wait until Winter (your Summer) to buy new pants because I'm mainly wearing skirks & dresses at the moment. I can't wait to get into the next size down !!

I've pinned a skirt that was too big, with a top that covered the waistband, and wear belts to help with the pants that are too big. Fortunately, I do have smaller sizes from the last time I lost weight, too.

I went through my closet last weekend -- it was a little depressing at first. I've found that there can be a lot of variation in a given size and I couldn't tell until I tried them on whether they fit. The first few pairs were too small and I began to question whether I had actually lost any weight! Then I started finding some that fit just fine or were very close and I started to feel better. I didn't feel like trying on my current clothes -- I just decided that I would sort those out as I find them too big when I'm getting dressed in the morning. I've already added a skirt to the pile this week.

I also have some things from when I last lost weight but they are only a little smaller than I am now. My really old stuff is just a keepsake, won't be wearing any of them again but they will be a good gauge for when I lose more weight. It is exciting to think I may actually get down to a normal dress size... can't wait !!:Banane22:

My weight loss shown below is since surgery, this graph I will keep updated well past my post date shown here. Had a first fill just 3 days ago and it seems to be working a bit. I will go for another fill in a month.

I've had 3 fills now Bebers and feel I need a little more. I will be calling my dr's office for another appointment next week. Even .5 should help I would think. Keep up the good work.

Had my band on 14th November 2007. First fill failed because the tube between the port and band is faulty and needs replacing. I've lost 60 pounds, BMI down from 41.2 to 33. Happy with that.

Does that mean you have to have another surgery to fix the tube? If so, is the manufacturer of the band going to cover the cost of the surgery? Geez... that is a pretty big deal if you ask me.

Just curious... do you think it was surgeon error or manufacturer's error?

Hi,

Yes I will have to have surgery to fix the tube, but at no cost since I had my band done on the NHS (here in the UK). I really don't know what/who caused the fault - perhaps it was just 'one of those things'.

I've chosen an "OLD" thread in the hopes of reaching as many November people as possible.

I have come upon a web site called "WISH UPON A HERO" after seeing it featured on a news show.

People in need ask for a wish and people can grant the wish. Now many of these wishes can be frivilous and some are just plain NOT going to get granted. I mean no one is going to pay off someone's mortgage!LOL!

BUT many of these people just need some clothes for their kids or for themselves and some have simple requests such as grocery coupons, that can be mailed to them. Right now there are many wishes for Easter gifts for their children.

As you can imagine many of these people are in areas that were hit hard by the economy or natural disasters, so they are spread all over the U.S.

If any of you can spare a few mins. to look over the site, you can also do an advanced search and look for people in your own state, that might be easier and save on possible shipping costs.

Of course some of the people can be scammers, so please be cautious with any donations of cash and the site does "certify" some people with wishes. They are designated with a red star next to their name and you can do a search of only "certified" members.

If you have old clothes (you outgrew from your weight loss) or clothes your children have outgrown, many of these people would be grateful to receive them.

You can also register with "Freecycle.org" where people give away good items instead of filling a landfill with them and perhaps you can pass a free item from Freecycle to a person in need.

I feel bad for many of these people who cannot afford food for their families and hope this messages reachs some people on the forum that might want to help a few needy people in the state you live.

My husband and I recently granted a wish for a military family that needed gas money to visit family out of state.

Thanks for reading this Nymphs and if you're able to help someone, thanks for that.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
