Just banded in Western Australia

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I was banded by Dr Flanagan on 10/12/07. I started out at 116kgs and lost 7 on the liquid diet prior to surgery. I have lost 3kgs since the operation. I go for the first week check up and to hopefully get the staples out on Tuesday the 18th.:clap2: I can't wait for the staples to come out because they hurt when I cough. I have yo yo dieted my whole life so this is quite exciting to think I am finally off that merry go round. I am not hungry but I am kind of grieving for the loss of steak chips and salad. I have got gass though which is gross. :rolleyes My doctor will be away over January so I guess I won't have my first fill until the beginning of Feb. Has anyone else had to wait 7 to 8 weeks for their first fill? I am worried that it will slow my weight loss right down. It is great to be able to make contact with other people going through the same thing as I am.

Cheers,

TMG

Hi, I'm brand new to this site, and wish you all the best luck!! I'm just beginning my journey, going to my first seminar January 2, so I know how brave you are, and how much courage this took - I like steak chips and salad too, but my biggest weakness has always been Pasta and bread. I hope I'm going to prefer normal clothes as an incentive!!

Thanks Lynne,

Just think of all the great shopping for new clothes you will be able to do. I have already lost 10kgs (3 post op) and I only had the suregery 5 days ago. I am noticing a difference in clothes already and it is great that food is not able to have the same control over me. It is the best decision I have made (weight wise), I just wish I had done it earlier. The surgery is not scary at all, it is just the thought of it. I am really excitied for you because I know the decision to do it is the hardest part of all.

Cheers,

TMG

Thanks! you're right, I totally agree with the decision being the hardest part. When I told my mom, she bit my head off and put me down for not being able to to do it on my own, that really hurt and embarrassed me, so being able to come here means a lot to me.

Happy Holidays!! love and Happy Thin New Year!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A. Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
