I am 3 years post op from gastric sleeve and I want to do a revision, however the provider wanted me to have a esophageal x-ray before making the final decision, during this x-ray it was determined that I have a Hiatal Hernia.

Has anyone else that has had the sleeve ever gone through this before and if so what did you do?

I want or need to lose 60 pounds so that I don't have to do the revision any ideas on where I can start, I love Water aerobics, walking and weights.

most people get the hernia repaired during surgery.

I didn't have the hernia when I had the surgery 3 years ago.

Yea what i am saying is if you do the revision, They can repair it then. But loosing weight is eating right and exercising. Find something that you like. I started going for a walk for about an hour a day at night (Its too hot here in Florida for the day lol) if you have a gym in your area they probably have classes for Water aerobics and other ones. my mom goes to those types of classes a couple times a week.

Thanks for the information I'm going to give myself until September to lose as much as I can and if not at the desired weight I want I will consider the revision.

Happy Easter and best of luck to you in your weight loss journey.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
