Weight loss starts when?

Recommended Posts

Hey y'all, I'm 6 days post op for the gastric sleeve. Ever since I came home from the hospital I have weighed 4 or 5 more pounds than my starting surgery weight. I don't understand why I have gained and not lost weight. I don't feel like I'm doing anything wrong. Although, I do struggle getting my Water and Protein in. Other than that I feel pretty good. What is everyone else's experience? Is this normal or not?

yep. Water weight from the IV fluids. I've heard of some people gaining 10 or more lbs from it. It takes a few days for it to work it's way out of your system. In the mean time, if it's stressing you out, then just stay off the scale for a few days.

Interesting...

I've had the complete opposite experience.

Had surgery Monday. Weighed 355 in the hospital right before it (and after 3 days of liquid diet). Got out of the hospital on Wednesday. Weighed 348 on Thursday night, and then I weighed 337 this morning. Hope I'm not dehydrated.

Everyone's bodies work at different rates. I did gain 5 pounds after surgery, but have lost ten pounds since home. Surgery was April 6

Weight gain is normal from all the IV fluids. Drink as much water/liquids (as your program advises) and walk walk walk. This will help with any pain and get your body back in whack.

I went to the hospital at 309 and came home at like 315. It comes off fast after a couple of days to a week. Don't worry! All part of the journey.

I didn't gain or lose anything. It probably varies a lot by the amount the hospital pumps you full of and how dehydrated you are going in, how much you pee afterwards, along with the fact that bodies are weird and different. The weight will come off.

You have to keep in mind that you were filled with gas/air and fluids in the hospital and your body is wondering what the heck just happened to it. You're recovering. The weight is going to drop like a rock any day now. QUIT WEIGHING!

LOL! And sometimes that feeling sticks around for several weeks (almost six so far, in my case).

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
