Crisscat 181 Posted April 10, 2022 Just curious of things you ate or drank before surgery that you cannot stand or stomach now? I hear alot of people say they dislike the Premier Protein shakes after surgery but loved them before their surgery? I heard someone say they tried Ratio Protein yogurt from Walmart? Anyone tried this after they were off liquids in order to get the protein goal met? I did try one Key Lime and tasted ok but I found it to be a bit thick lol. TheWeightisOvr 74 Posted April 10, 2022 Hey there! I’ve been lucky enough to like everything I ate (except for the bad stuff) before surgery. Great upside was I hate sweets after surgery. Cakes, pies, candy, just uuuugh too sweet. Fried foods I also have an aversion to. I like all of the Protein Shakes and a few new ones too. it’s funny about this ratio yogurt I just found it yesterday at Publix and I love it. It’s thick but not thick and layered with sugar alcohols like Oikos. I can’t stomach that. It’s not low in calories though so I’ll have to see how it fits into my plan. 1 Crisscat reacted to this
catwoman7 11,220 Posted April 10, 2022 I've gotten Ratio a few times. Some of the flavors I like, some I don't. 1 Crisscat reacted to this
Arabesque 7,426 Posted April 10, 2022 (edited) After surgery your tummy can be fussy . You may eat or drink something one day but the next it’s tummy says no. Then a few days later it’s fine again. This can occur for a little while after you get onto solid foods. Also a lot of us experience temporary changes to our tastebuds &/or your sense of smell can become extra sensitive. So foods you always liked suddenly taste or smell disgusting. I couldn’t wait to have vegetables when I got to solid foods but I could stand most of the ones I used to love. After a couple of months they were delicious again. Also foods can taste super sweet. I embraced that to get off the sugar train & still avoid it a lot of it including artificial sweeteners & sugar alternatives. Can’t advise on the premier shakes or the yoghurt as we don’t have them in Australia but I really struggled with shakes full stop. A lot of dieticians here recommend Chobani yoghurt with 15g Protein but I found it too sweet. I discovered Yopro by Danone which has 15g & 20g options. They used to do a 22g yoghurt drink too but no more ☹️. I am fussy about the flavours I like though (mango, passion fruit, banana or lime are my favourites). Maybe buy a few individual Protein Shake sachets from different companies in a variety of flavours so you have options. catwoman7 11,220 Posted April 10, 2022 I didn't really like sweet things after surgery, but that just lasted a few months. I loved chocolate and vanilla Protein Shakes before surgery (and I love them again now!), but for the first few months they were way too sweet for me. I usually drank Unjury's chicken broth-flavored ones. Or I'd mix unflavored Protein into different things.
