justforme1 4 Posted April 9, 2022 I had my sleeve done in April of 2012. Had decent success until 2018 when I gained ALL of the weight back. I am now 2 weeks away from getting a re-sleeve. It is with a differnt surgeon this time due to the fact my original surgeon won't do it. I am very nervous. I worry about the actual surgery. Mostly because I already have staples & such I expect it to be more difficult. I know there isn't too much on this forum about getting a re-sleeve but I was wondering if anyone has had any personal experiences with this. Wondering if it will be as successful as the 1st was oringally. NOTE: I have made the personal decision not to have the bypass as an alternative. My doctor says that it is the usual revisionj choice but I am even more scared of that surgery! 1 Isabel1246 reacted to this
catwoman7 11,220 Posted April 10, 2022 hopefully someone to respond. When sleevers revise, it tends to be to bypass or DS (duodenal switch) - but I think I've read about some people re-sleeving. Hopefully someone on here has done it and will respond to this. 2 N S and Tomo reacted to this
liveaboard15 1,293 Posted April 10, 2022 i have never heard of someone getting resleeve. Its always bypass. So they are just making the sleeve again? your stomach stretched? 4 N S, SleeveToBypass2023, Tomo and 1 other reacted to this
Elenita 1 Posted April 11, 2022 I used to follow on YouTube a lady who was sleeved a number of years ago and then she was re-sleeved recently. She was very active on YouTube during her first surgery experience and then posted a few videos after her second surgery. She hasn’t posted a video in a long time. The name of her channel is Kellawanda. 1 justforme1 reacted to this
SleeveToBypass2023 2,650 Posted April 12, 2022 I didn't know you could be resleeved. I thought it was a one-and-done thing and if a revision was needed, you go to RNY or DS. 1 N S reacted to this
DreamBelieveAchieve 14 Posted April 20, 2022 Hi, I’ve been resleeved! I had my first sleeve in the UK in 2018. First couple of months I lost weight dramatically but I was always hungry (from the second day post op!!!) to the point I felt sick, no matter how often I drank. I could also eat a lot more/not feel my restriction as quick as others seemed to despite how slow I ate. Needless to say I stabilised after just 6 months and then Covid hit and I started regaining when I wasn’t able to be as active/go to the gym. I went to Turkey last year and got a resleeve. The surgeon said that the top of my sleeve was much bigger than it should have been, part may possibly have been from me restretching it but he said the top part was large and looked like not all of my hunger hormone producing part of the stomach had been removed. He removed all the excess including my hunger hormone and made my stomach nice and small again. Results have been amazing, I’m 8 months post op, still losing although obviously slowing as I approach goal weight and I can still only eat a few mouthfuls!! My experience with my resleeve is very different, I got horrific gas pain post op for a start which I didn’t get the first time (but normal and not uncommon, just walk walk walk). If I eat too quickly I will vomit/get pain, again another normal side effect they tell you about but I didn’t experience any of it first time round. I’m so pleased I went for my resleeve even though I was worried about going abroad, it’s been the best decision I ever made! :-) 3 Merill, SuziDavis and bebaeg reacted to this
Lee anne 38 Posted May 5, 2022 I am getting resleeve due to not loosing enough and gaining 30lb back. I lost 65lbs. My doctor would not do it he automatically said gastic without doing test ect. I had it in Mexico. I research it an found a hospital that does it only 3 hrs from my home. I live in AZ now. Going to Mexicali mx . I went there last week had a barium swallow before they would commit to a sleeve. I had my old xrays from right after surgery. Thank God I did. He said the technique they use left the top part really large from surgery. He told me it was not my fault. He said I needed a better tool to work with. So if your thinking re sleeve it depends on the issue. I go may 13 for surgery. Looking forward to the new me. I understand a lot more this time round. 4 Isabel1246, Merill, Ninabnina77 and 1 other reacted to this
justforme1 4 Posted May 6, 2022 Lee anne, I had the same issue. It was not done right the 1st time. I am 1 week post re-sleeve. So far it has been a hugely different experience. I was up, moving and home in less than 24 hours! The 1st time I was in the hospital 3 days vomiting blood and very nauseous. I feel great now! I understand that since my stomach was not as large this time, my weight loss may be slower or less but so far I am down 6lbs in 1 week. I'll take that! 1 1 Merill and Ms. Lisa Ricks reacted to this
Lee anne 38 Posted May 6, 2022 I am taking gas x per their suggestion since they don't have it in mx. What pain meds did they give you? Did you take any meds the second day that you have from home. I have an anti depression medication. What did you take with you and what you did not that you wish you did
justforme1 4 Posted May 6, 2022 I had it done here in Massachusetts. I was only given Tylenol in the hospital. I have been taking children's liquid Tylenol for the last few days. It's really all I have needed. I was lucky-I did not have any gas pains after. I do know some people do get it pretty severe though. The only medications I was taking before were for acid reflux. I continuously took those and I am still taking them. The doctor hopes to have me off of them all together within 3 months. I wish you all the luck & pleae let me know how it goes! 1 Merill reacted to this

Sent from my SM-G991U1 using BariatricPal mobile app Hi Nina, Although I'm from a Turkish background, I didn't have the courage to go overseas to get this surgery done bc if any complication arises the doctors here in Australia are hesitant about treating somebody else's mistake. So I just bit the bullet and decided to have it here in Australia, I've heard a lot of success stories from people who have had it in Turkey. It's good to hear yours whent well too! Hope everything works out for you in the long run, 🙏My surgery is tomorrow I have butterflies in my stomach nerves are flying high lol I'm hoping it goes well as I'm having a hiatal hernia repair and a gastric bypass. All the best to everyone🙏🙏 Edited May 15, 2022 by Merill
