But I do remember your posts on your weight loss and definitely so proud of you. Thank you for confirming my concerns were valid. Did you remember doing anything particularly different when the stalls broke? Or your body just decided for you? I wish you continued long term success my dear. no - didn't do anything different during stalls. I just made doubly sure I was following my program to a "T". 1 TheWeightisOvr reacted to this

Weight lifting is definitely one of my interests. Wishing you the best on your long term weight management. I know it’s a lifetime change for all of us. Your screen name is cool. Is it related to cooking at all or any cool things you learned throughout your journey? I found I still dislike cooking, but there is always something to learn about weight loss. Most of meaningful permanent weight loss seems to be learning a new way to think. That’s why this meeting place is important. WW never really addressed it in any depth, neither do the support groups at my center. 1 TheWeightisOvr reacted to this
HE_TheBrave 7 Posted April 10, 2022 Glad to find this thread. I’m definitely a slow loser and I’m trying really hard to stay encouraged. I was 255 my day of surgery. 6 weeks out I weighed in at 249. Not even 10 pounds. And I’m doing everything that I was instructed to do. Staying on the diet, watching my portions, tracking my meals, the 20 20 20, getting the right amount of Protein, drinking enough Fluid, exercising every day. I am honestly very discouraged to not see any real movement. But it is encouraging to know that I’m not alone. But I’ve definitely had moments where I wondered, what was the purpose of going through all this and getting the surgery, if almost 2 months out, I’m not even at 15 pounds weight loss? The doctors and dietitian say I’m not doing anything wrong and to be patient, but I feel it’s much easier to say that than it is to be dealing with it. Just had to vent that. Now I’m in tears smh. But I’ll keep swimming. 1 HE_TheBrave reacted to this

I was literally thinking the same exact thing like why did I do this because I was never an overeater per se. Or so I thought but I could have been overeating based on my body’s needs or under nourishing it. This thread is great because it affirms what your going through has also been experienced by others. I want you encourage you today HE_thebrave to stay the course like the other posters said to us. I still don’t know what I will look like or feel a year from now or 10 years but I’m going to stay the course because what’s the alternative? What’s done is done lol we can’t reverse the surgery nor wound we want to right? We’re going to continue to live out the life we envisioned for ourselves and focus on doing the right things, feeling amazing and the small wins will give us joy along the way then we’ll add allllll those up and be like I don’t even know why I was stressing in the beginning lol 💪🏽💪🏽 We took an amazing step and added something to our toolbox and it’s just that unfortunately a really expensive name brand tool lol Please keep in touch and let me and us know how it goes for you. The lack of weightloss is really getting me down, I'm not even managing 400 cals at mo because I feel so ill everytime I eat. What an expensive way to not lose weight!!! Hopefully we can motivate each other [emoji3059]Sent from my SM-G980F using BariatricPal mobile app
oldandtired 238 Posted April 13, 2022 Slow loser here too. But the weight does continue to come off. My surgery was on 01/11, and so far, I've lost 34 lbs. Back when I was 50, I lost 50 pounds, but it took me 2 YEARS for that! LOL at my age, I don't have the time left! My doctor wanted me to walk more, and I just giggled--it's all I can do to work 40 hours a week at a desk job, much less exercise. If you are young, you have no idea. I think he wanted me to because the weight loss is so slow. Well, the fact that the scale continues to move down is GREAT for me. I'm not hungry-I still have nausea, but I think I have found the way out of that. So not hungry--none of that "oh God, I can't think of anything else but the Cookies in the break room" stuff. 34 lbs in 3 months is wonderful for me! 1 TheWeightisOvr reacted to this

I am 44 not quite 50 but it’s right around the corner. I used to lose fast as well in my 20’s & 30’s and part of mind was hoping that my body would reward me like that again….lol Good Luck to you and your continued successes. Even the lows it’s all a learning experience I’m quickly realizing. 1 oldandtired reacted to this
DaisyAndSunshine 303 Posted April 16, 2022 Yup, slow loser right here too or at least I do count myself one. 210 surgery date weight 1st month - 18 pounds 2nd month - 10 pounds 3rd month (Feb) - 7.6 pounds 4th month - about 12 pounds And in my 5th month now: Half way through and only have lost about 3 pounds 😂 (I have stalled for more than a week now). Let's see how this month ends. So yeh, more or less I do think I am slow loser with stalls here and there. And yes it does get to you but seeing many others talk about it, I am being hopeful that I'll eventually get there. 1 1 TheWeightisOvr and oldandtired reacted to this

But I’ll keep swimming. I think we ALL go thru this period. I felt like a failure too, wondering if I did the "right" thing (surgery). I had lost 60 pounds BEFORE surgery, "so why couldn't I do that ALL on my own?" I'm sure my stats were "low" too at that time frame for me. Just keep on! I am BORING when it comes to food. I could "take it OR leave it". The food smells soooo good. THAT didn't change. My MIND is now "changed", HOPEFULLY forever. It takes a WHILE, mentally, NOT just the weight loss. You are "retraining your brain" to "be aware" of WHAT you are consuming. If you just focus on the GOOD changes, the non scale victories, (there are WAY too many to count!), it will ALL work out. whether it's a year, 18 months or LONGER. As long as that the scale is going DOWN (SLOWLY EVEN), that means you are doing this ALL PERFECTLY!! And DON'T forget this VERY important! YOU are a WINNER!! 1 TheWeightisOvr reacted to this
DonnaGS 58 Posted April 18, 2022 Glad to hear other people are experiencing the same stall outs and still losing their weight! I stall out every other week. If I eat any Carb its a full week of stalling out and it takes an act of congress to jump back on the band wagon and get going again. Like a lot of people have mentioned, I have osteoarthritis In every joint of my body, plus other issues. So walking, swimming, everything I do has to be in moderation and not everyday. I do weight lifting, but very small weights. It all adds up, it might not be as much as I want, but I realize I'm more active than the average person probably. 2 TheWeightisOvr and learn2cook reacted to this
Kiki893 2 Posted April 19, 2022 I'm so glad I found this thread. I stall often and I've been stressing about being a slow loser, worrying since I lost weight beforehand that I wouldn't make it to my goal. Nice to see I'm not the only one! I got so upset I quit longing. I eat just about the same things daily. Protein Drink with Protein Powder. chicken, tuna, I'm just not moving much. I'm sad over it. oldandtired 238 Posted April 20, 2022 Well, I don't exercise (I know I should) but I work 40 hours a week, and am tired when I get home. Plus I have always lost slow. It's an effort to eat enough Protein, as almost everything makes me nauseous. So going back to the doc in a week. I think I am going to ask to be scoped--if it's a thing that can be fixed, like a stricture or something, then let's do it. Some days food sits well. Other days it is like a petulant child. I can't eat like I should.
