Eating more is absolutely normal. Over time, you will continue to increase your intake, but it will vary greatly from person to person and there is no right or wrong. I would say 1) follow your plan, and 2) reach out to your team or a bariatric dietitian if you have ANY concerns.

I have been really hungry since right after my surgery. I talked to my surgery center and they put me on Metformin and Topamax. I've lost weight really well, but it's so frustrating to be hungry all the time. I find that drinking a lot, especially tea and coffee (I use splenda a low fat milk), helps. Being distracted, eating lots of Fiber from veggies, and eating 5 times a day vs. 3 is what works for me. Good luck!

PS - I'm eating about 900-1200 calorie a day now at 7 months out.

Try dropping the carbs. Eat solid food like fish, nuts. Give it 90 minutes after to eat to drink, and then drink a lot of Water. Experiment.

There's nothing wrong with 1000 calories/day. The gherelin hormone from surgery was suppressed for the first little while, so you weren't hungry.

Some people say that hot beverages such as tea help when they are hungry.

I am on preop diet right now and my instructions say that as well... To drink like hot broth that the heat and sodium will help with the hunger.

Get rid of flour of all varieties. White, wheat, corn, etc. It doesn't matter. They all affect our bodies the same way. Refining carbohydrates like that gives us a rush (much like sugar), which induces the quick dopamine spike, ensuing crash, and resulting cravings. I lost 17 pounds in the three months prior to surgery just from doing this (although I didn't go crazy with other stuff either, so there was a bit more to it than just getting rid of flour).

Staying off carbs forever isn't realistic for most of us, but if you're going to eat carbs, go for the whole food varieties. Rice and potatoes definitely aren't the best things in the world for us, but they're a hell of a lot better than bread, breaded food, Pasta, tortillas, dough, etc.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
