Less than month preop weight gain

Recommended Posts

So I had the sleeve done 3/14 and so far I have no issues. My stomach tolerates everything I introduce. I can intake liquids with ease and i have restriction with food. The day I arrived my weight was 311. Day of surgery I asked to weigh again I was 306. After surgery I weighed myself (I know I wasn’t supposed to I was 295). Today I’m 299.8 and I’m scared to be back over 300 lbs but why am I gaining weight? I’m not even eating enough food to be gaining anything. Is this normal? I’m so afraid of messing this up or failing but seeing the scale go up is sending my anxiety through the roof.

Don’t worry too much (I know easier said than done) but weight loss isn’t always a simple or straight path down to your goal. Sometimes you may have little increases along the way too. But it doesn’t mean you won’t be successful.
If you’re following your plan and staying consistent then you’re doing great. Congratulations so far ❤️

So stay off the scale. (I know, I know -- easier said than done.) Seriously, stay on plan and the weight will come off.

Yes, Hang in there. I had the sleeve 11 months ago. There were several times I felt discouraged. You don't gain weight overnight, nor will it come off that way. Seek advice from your dietitian. Maybe you are not taking the right Vitamins or calories.... YOU GOT THIS!

You’re losing weight. The body takes awhile to adjust. Stick with it and you will see results. Weigh yourself as often as you need, but understand the body will resist at time - that doesn’t mean your composition isn’t changing. It is.
I’m in it with you! Mine was 3/8.

I agree with the others. If you're following your plan, you'll lose. There are reasons why you could be seeing a slight gain - most likely, you could be retaining Water (what your sodium intake been the last couple of days?) or you could have have fuller-than-usual intestines. If it's one of those, it should be gone in a day or two. Just stick to your plan - as long as your overall trend is down, you're good!

You shouldn't even be looking at the scale at this point. Just follow the program, stick to the program, heal, recover, and take care of yourself. The weight loss will happen on its own. Quit watching it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
