Foamies usually occur because you eat too much, too fast or eat food that is too dry or coarse. The excess or food that is stuck sort of bubbles up with lots of saliva. Which doesn’t really apply to you at your stage. Sounds more like you’re just plain vomiting. It’s painful because all your muscles are already strained from the surgery & your internal stitches & sutures. You could also have lots of gunk in your tummy from the surgery & maybe some excess acid which is making you nauseous &/or you’re vomiting it up. Some vomit it up while some have foul smelling diarrhoea because they get rid of it that way.

Definitely contact your surgeon though to be sure. Did they prescribe anti nausea meds?

Feel better soon.

Yes, yes. Exactly. Most of my foamies probably could've been avoided. Early on I wasn't used to eating super slow, chewing a LOT. For me, it was a steep learning curve. I also was hell bent on trying to eat fruits with skin on them like cherries or grapes /cry lol.

I got them early on from eggs, chicken, and tuna. I was ok after the 6 mo. mark. I agree with above posters to let your team know.

Being post menopausal, or close to it, can effect your saliva thickness and quantity. That’s why cavities and heart burn are suddenly prevalent at that time. I know this happens to diabetic men too.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
