Surgery at 10:20 today. Leaving for the hospital in about 90 minutes.
Positive thoughts, prayers greatly appreciated. I’m having gallbladder removed, hernia repair, RNY.
Best wishes and good luck to everyone who went yesterday, who is going today, and who is anywhere on this path.
❤️

Congrats I am sure it will all go well.

@jessica1024 I was in the same boat as you. I had my surgery June 2. I worried for no reason honestly. I was also thinking about being hungry in front of food and preparing food for the kids but the cool thing is you don’t get hungry as we think we will.

Hi June buddies! I’m excited I found this group! I had my surgery June 2nd.
The outcome is not as scary as we think it is.

Went for my pre-op today, surgery date is June 7th. I'm so ready for this surgery - just nervous about the recovery time.

My surgery is out-patient because of covid. Has anyone here been released the same day? How was your experience?

Hey, I just had my surgery on the 7th too. The first day I don't remember anything outside of me being rolled in the OR then waking up in my hospital room. But today I feel great. No pain. I'm walking around, sipping on fluids. Going home tomorrow. My surgeon was awesome. I had a very good experience. I'm just looking at this as a rebirth. We got this. Be blessed.

Hi guys! I did my surgery yesterday. All went well, no complications so far. I was back home in 3 hours! The only problem I have so far is horrible heart burn. It is so horrible that it hurts to take my crushed meds and even drink Water. Has anyone has this feeling?

I did not have this issue, but they also prescribed me sucralfate to take before meals and protonix twice a day. Are you taking anything for gerd?

I’m a week out from surgery and just wanted to share my progress. I’ve lost 9 lbs since my surgery date, which makes sense since I’m eating less than 400 calories a day! It’s definitely easier on this side than it was on the pre-op side, since my body literally cannot eat the things it used to. It’s been an adjustment getting used to the physical limitations and sensations that come along with something as simple as taking a single pill, but seeing quick weight loss is very rewarding. I’m still on full liquids, but I switch to soft foods on Sunday, and I cannot wait to have an egg!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
