Hi y'all,

Once again I have been a while in checking in. Actually I checked in one night and fell asleep trying to catch up on the posts. So tonight I decided to check in and maybe catch up later.

I have not had any problems eating anything, but will not get the first fill until May 22nd. I will be out of town earlier in the month when I would have been scheduled. At first I was very disappointed in that, but now I think it may be a good thing so I won't be having adjustments to make while I'm away.

We have been busy with a lot of clean up from some of the recent storms. We have had lots of branches down and other minimal damage. Seems like we just got the branches picked up and stacked when then next storm came in and took more down. We still have piles to get cut up. I am still not quite able to comfortably bend over to pick stuff up so it is taking a lot longer than it may normally have.

Did anyone else have any problems from the weather?

Hey T! Good to hear from you. Wow.. sorry about all your storm damage. Those were some really nasty storms! Hopefully we're done with them for this year. I was lucky- Rockwall seemed to be spared from what I could see.

Glad you're doing well. You'll see a difference after your first fill, but be prepared that it may not be much. I really haven't seen much even after my second one. I'm going out of town tomorrow, but next week I'm going to try to get in for another fill. Right after surgery, 6 months seems like a long way away, but it's already been 3 months since my surgery and time is passing FAST! Unfortunately the scale hasn't been going down much. :glare: I want to get in all the fills I need in that 6-month "free fill" zone. (if you can call $10K "free").

How is everyone else doing? Dianne? Did you get the PM I sent yesterday? Hope things are better today.

Pat yes I got your message. Thanks for asking. Had to stay home with him yesterday, but back to work today. I agree about getting the fills we need within the free 6 month period. Does anyone know what and how it works after the 6 months is up. I would think we could stay with TLC. But wonder what the cost is going to be. If anyone knows let me know. My restriction is really strange. After the second fill I have a number of foods I can not eat at all. If I take just one or two bites I get stuck. Then there are some foods I have no problem with at all. Anyone else going through this. My 3rd fill is not scheduled till May 15th. But I really do not think I need one now anyway.

Hope everyone is doing great. Dianne

Good morning!

I'd like to know too how things work after the 6 months. I have NO idea what the fills will cost. If anyone knows, can you let us all know? There's a place over near me in Rowlett, Lone Star Lap-Band, that I' going to check into and see if they do fills. Anyone know anything about that place? It's so hard to drive all the way to North Plano from where I am!

Dianne, my last fill was the same way- There's some things that I just can't eat at all now, but others give me no trouble- and I can eat way too much of those. It's weird. I guess that's when our "will power" has to come into play- we can't expect the band to do ALL the work for us, unfortunately. :tt2: Hmm.. maybe that's why the scale is being stubborn.

It's very frustrating, because I KNOW that I'm eating a lot less than I was before surgery, yet the weight just isn't coming off as fast as I thought it would. I was told that people with lower BMI's lose slower. Maybe that's what's going on?

Hope everyone has a good day.

OK tomorrow morning I get officially banded.

I'm a bit nervous....I'm sure it is normal to feel this nervous but yikes. I went from excitement to really nervous. I know I'm doing the right thing but I'm still scared. I know Dr. Kim is great and will do a fantastic job but I wasn't prepared for the rush of emtions I'm having tonight.

Talk me through this, I know you guys have been through this already....were you guys this jittery the night before?

Baggio, I guess some folks go through that. I was just READY to get it done. I will tell you be prepared for a longer wait once you get there than you might think. I was there for 5 hours before I ever got to the back. Then I think it was another hour before going to the OR.

You'll do fine. Dr. Kim is great and I really was pretty much about my business the next day. I went back to work on Monday with no problems at all.

Hey Dianne, I got a new bike for my birthday. Well it's not really new, it's used, but new to me. It's a Honda 1100. It's a little tall so we've got to get stuff to lower it, but I Love it already.

So far the only problem I have is getting hiccups. I think it happens if I eat to fast.

I really don't think I like the things they've done to the site. It takes way to long to load and I can't find things anymore. Plus that sponsor bar area reloads every few seconds and while it does that I can't type anything. It's very irritatating.

We're getting more storms right now so I better get off here.

Baggio, Hope everything went great for you. Just remember Walk, Walk and walk some more. The walking helped me with the gas. We will all be waiting to hear from you. Welcome to the other side.

Hi, I was banded on march 13th by Dr. Kim and I have been reading all of your messages for the last month, so I thought I would join in. I had my first fill today and I hope it helps. I have been eating like I was not even banded the last couple of weeks so I am hoping the fill makes a difference. I have only lost 9 lbs and I too, need to start exercising. It sounds like there is not much difference with the first fill, is this the way most of you felt?

I really did not feel any different until my second fill. I have been a slow looser. But I have not gained either, so that is a possitive. I just know the weight is not going to come off until I make up my mind to excercise. But what I have learned, everyone is different.

Hi Pat & Dianne...Hi everyone:)

Thanks for thinking of me....I'm here, just been absent from the boards this week. I celebrated my 40th b-day on Thursday the 24th...so unfortunately, the healthy eating went out the window all week long. This is the first birthday that has spilled over in multiple days/nights of celebration. I'm thankful for your concern as I disappeared for a little bit. Haven't been on the scale, so I'm not sure what has happened during this past week. I'm heading in for a fill on Thursday (May 1st)....this will be my 3rd fill, not counting what was put in the band on surgery day. I'm hoping for LOTS of restriction b/c I'm not doing so well in the evenings...I'm starving and tend to snac k too much at night. I will ask what the cost is for fills with TLC once we reach that 6 month mark. I wonder if it's 6 months from your surgery date or is it 6 months of free fills? Anywhoooo, I'll ask when I go this week and report back what I find out.

I still can't eat breads or much in the way of starchy foods.....get stuck almost immediately on that type of food.< /p>

Hey everyone! Just got back from a lonnnnnnnnnnnnng 5 days in Las Vegas, and it's so good to be back home, where things make SENSE! It's getting crazier out there by the day. One thing is for sure.. I got my walking in! Eating was a real "pain", literally, though. But I still managed to not lose much. *sigh* I really think I need to go back for a fill as soon as I can get in. I'm like you, Stacey- I'm always starving by the time I get home from work, and tend to snack in the evenings too.. a big no-no, according to the Lap Band rules.

Hey Stacey.. good to hear from you- we were all concerned. Belated Happy Birthday!!!!!!!! It sounds like you had a wonderful time celebrating. We won't hold it against you if you've gained back a pound or two.

Welcome to our special place, learb123. We're certainly not "seasoned banders" - YET, but we've all been there recently enough to still remember how it was in the beginning, so feel free to join right in- we'll all help any way we can.

Dianne- how are things at home, and how's hubby doing?

Hi Guys,

I'm banded and back to work today....

The surgery went well but I had no idea how much port pain I would have, had it not been for that it would have really been a snap. I'm going to do a general post under post op to go through my experience since that really helped me prior to being banded so I won't repeat it here. The port pain though is something else. I'm still taking pain medication. It is really really sore. It is still really red around it too. It is better everyday but still really hard to sleep since I'm a side sleeper. How long does it take for it to feel normal again?

Loved Dr. Kim, he was so good and comforting to my DH before and after the surgery. Also can't say enough great things about TLC. What a great facility and staff. They were awesome.

I'm eating cream Soups which compared to Optifast feels like the best food I have ever tasted.

There was a discrepency in what TLC told me and the instructions Dr. Kim gave me post op...TLC said 2 weeks of cream soups before mushy, Dr. Kim says 1 week of cream soups then on to mushy...what did you guys do?

It's good to be here and banded finally!!!!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
