meal kits for bariatrics?

Recommended Posts

I’m about 5 weeks out from rny gastric bypass and I’m starting to get back to a more “normal” diet. Are there any meal kits out there that anyone knows of?

a couple years ago I was in a ldr and my bf used to order 3-4 meals a week. When I visited, it was enough for two and when I was not there, he always had leftovers since they are designed for 2.

Since I’m obviously not eating as much as I did pre op, one kit would probably be 4 or 5 meals and that seems so wasteful because I can’t imagine eating the same thing 4 meals in a row. Are there meal kits out there that make smaller portions?

You could try freezing some of the leftovers. I do that often, then I can rotate through meals so I don’t get bored with them.

check around you locally... Ask the gyms and such... like where i live there are several small businesses that do healthy meal preps and put out a new menu weekly and either deliver or you pick up at local gyms.

I resumed ordering Hello Fresh meals about 5 months post op. I try to order the carb smart ones and I eat mostly the Protein and vegetable, a few bites of potato or carb. Typically I'll have some leftovers but not a ton. My fiancé might eat some of my portion and I also share with my toddler son so it works out. It's a nice option when I don't want to think about meal planning but I don't use it weekly, that may get overwhelming then.

https://www.baribox.org/ - I've never tried it, but have heard good reviews. My family uses Dinnerly a few times a week. I just stick to Protein & veggie heavy meals and split my portion into 2-3 meals.

I have heard good things about that baribox as well on here in the past. Never tried it but it seems like a great idea for us. Seems like they would show the food on a plate on their website and it may look more appetizing.

I wondered that myself and thought about Jenny craig, nutrisystem, or those Hello Fresh type of home delivery meal kits. But then I thought, wouldn't frozen "Weight Watchers" or "Atkins" dinners work?

Let us know if you do try those baribox meals. I am curious about the taste. I still think they should show the food in something other than a bag on their website to make it look more appealing but I have a feeling it’s will taste good.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
