What are you eating during the pureed phase?!

Ugh. The dreaded pureed Stage.

When i got to that stage, i puréed some beef, took one look at it and was all, No Thanks. Eww.

So i just continued another week at Full Fluids then went to Minced right after.

I did eat really, reaaaally runny eggs and creamy cottage cheese though.

This is the stage I'm dreading the most. I can not stand the idea of pureed meats (I work in a nursing home, so I've seen what pureed meats look like, can't do it), so I'm struggling with ideas to meet my Protein intake. I don't like canned tuna at all. I like refried Beans, so that's doable. I also like eggs almost anyway you cook them. But I'm stumped for other ideas.

I kind of skipped over the puréed stage & stuck with liquids. I ate tuna fish, pho with Protein Powder & grits a bunch but couldn’t get into puréeing real food. I tried baby food and it was disgusting!! Thankfully it’s a short stage.

Just curious, Has anyone had luck with baby food in the puree stage? I know it sounds weird but when my kids were little there were some varieties that were really good and I'd sometimes take a bite of their food when I was feeding them. Lol, I'm still in the begining stages, going through all my pre op appointments etc but reading to get a heads up on what my new life is going to look like.

To me baby food is too bland but I have heard of people who eat it during purée phase by adding their own spices. I was satisfied by the ricotta bake and refried Beans or mashed potatoes at that stage so I never tried it but it was absolutely allowed by my team.

I am currently starting the puree stage and I've made a few things that I really enjoy and then freezed individual small portions using Souper Cubes.
So far I've made chicken vegetable Soup which consisted of homemade Bone Broth, zucchini, tomatoes, white Beans, corn, fresh peas, carrots, onion, celery, fresh dill and fresh parsley. After it cooked I pureed it and it was so good! Had the texture of split pea but had amazing flavor.
Tonight I roasted sweet potatoes and butternut squash and then pureed them. Tomorrow I plan on using the leftover sweet potatoes, butternut squash, onions, and bell peppers that I roasted tonight and putting them in a lentil soup and puree together.
With those 3 meals I'm set for a few weeks anyways.

Honestly, I feel the exact same way. I’ve kind of been just feeling very BLAH 🤮 about seeing the way my food blends together. I’m also just sticking to Soups and drinking my Protein Shakes per my dieticians recommendation. I still have 4 more days left of puréed. 😔

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
