SleeveToBypass2023 2,650 Posted May 5, 2022 So the gas pain has gone away from everywhere except my left side. It's concentrated from under my left breast to my ribs, shoulder, and neck. I walk, I took gas x, nothing is helping. Anyone have any other advise? It's excruciating and makes it very painful to take deep breaths or even get comfortable. 2 Crisscat and Possum220 reacted to this

Warm liquids such as broth helped me more than anything. 1 SleeveToBypass2023 reacted to this

I am sore obviously but all in all so far so good. Dr commended me on the liver shrinkage. She said my liver was barely hanging over the stomach so she was very pleased about that. Everyone said I looked gray yesterday but I got my color back today. I havent had much problem drinking yet. Just a small amount thats for sure! The gas pain for me was after surgery and lasted until this morning. Its not excruciating but it can be painful at least for me. I haven't had any noticeable gas. I am very surprised. No bowel movement since Sunday but have only been on liquids. Not sure if it's normal or not but feeling better by the day. 1 sprukop0924 reacted to this
Hesitant but hopeful 7 Posted May 6, 2022 Hello, I see Dr. tomorrow but think I'm ready to schedule my surgery for early June. 😅. I am 68 and have yo-yo dieted and gained and lost since I was 14. I am sooo ready to be off of this roller coaster but I need encouragement that this is the right decision! Also, can anyone give me an idea of meal plans first month after surgery? 1 1 FarfelDiego and Mariann812 reacted to this

Also, can anyone give me an idea of meal plans first month after surgery? Your dietitian should give you a meal plan. 1-2 weeks clear liquid. broth, sugar free Jello, Protein waters, 1-2 oz per hour. After 1 week you should have another appointment with your surgeon. He may tell you to go to : Low-fat strained creamed Soup Light yogurt pudding, and Protein Shakes week 3-4 you may move to puréed food. Mostly protein foods. No heavy Fiber vegetables though, like broccoli. Cooked very soft sweet potatoes carrots etc…then purée. Week 5-6. Start with protein-rich foods, such as chicken, fish, turkey, Beans and eggs. Around week 5, you can add some vegetables and fruits. Chew until mushy. Don’t forget. Chew chew chew. Don’t drink 30 min before or after a meal. Soft foods are another step closer to eating solid foods, and are introduced around weeks 6-8. These include cooked or canned lean meats, fish, and certain vegetables and fruit.< /span> Please consult with your surgeon first. Everyone is different and so are doctors. What I listed is a basic guide. Try tiny bites first. And wait a min. See if you feel like you can tolerate (example:eggs, fish, beef). I’m 61. My surgery date is May 27, for my sleeve. I wish you all the best. Edited May 6, 2022 by tmh006 Misspelled word 4 Quesodip251, sprukop0924, SleeveToBypass2023 and 1 other reacted to this
Grider 92 Posted May 6, 2022 (edited) Good for you! I’m 69 and 1/2 way through the process hoping for July surgery. 3 mo of dietitian is required by my Medicare Ins. I am having some set backs with the gym - achy muscles n trips to the chiropractor’s office, amd no weight loss, but still moving forward with cutting out bad foods n Portion Control. There are quite a few videos on weight loss diets on YouTube, but the Dr will give you a pkg of instructions. Good luck, at least in my location, there’s quite a few “ over 65” surgeries. They look great ! Edited May 6, 2022 by Grider 1 sprukop0924 reacted to this

Also, can anyone give me an idea of meal plans first month after surgery? hi, and welcome. I'm 67 and hoping for bypass and hernia repair in mid-june. I meet with my surgeon for what they call the Results (from pre-procedure testing) Visit on may 16. I am hoping that I can be given a date for surgery at that visit. What someone told you here is what I have been told regarding post surgery eating plan, BUT I do know that it all depends on one's healing. I wish I had done this about 10 years when the lbs started coming on, the weight fluctuation began, and no matter what I did, I did not lose. Good luck! 2 Merill and SleeveToBypass2023 reacted to this
Sunshine Princess 203 Posted May 6, 2022 Ten days away! May 16th and I am SUPER excited. I haven't had too many issues with the liquid and Protein Shake diet. I'm allowed one egg a day, one serving of non fat Greek yogurt, and one 8 ounce glass of 1% or unsweetened almond milk. I did cheat last night and had one bite of steak from my husband's steak fajitas he made, but so far so good! I had pre-surgical bloodwork done yesterday and the results show that my glucose and A1C are nearly out of the pre-diabetic range so I am SUPER excited about that and really motivated to continue. Best of luck to all! 🙂
Noemis65 5 Posted May 6, 2022 Hi there! My VSG surgery was on 5/3, so I’m 3 days post op. I actually had three surgeries in one. I had my VSG, I had my gallbladder taken out and I had a hiatal hernia repaired. So far, so good. Other than discomfort and swelling it hasn’t been as bad as I expected. 1 1 cynebeah and SleeveToBypass2023 reacted to this
