nessie 15 Posted March 12, 2022 For those that have developed a marginal ulcer after revision, what did you drink? I'm losing my mind. Even my shakes I put a shot of espresso. I live for coffee. Seems like most tea is off limits. I need suggestions. It's been 2 months of this & surgeon just said at least another 3 months of carafate 3 times a day hoping it will heal by then because it's still angry
Arabesque 7,417 Posted March 13, 2022 You’re allowed coffee but not tea? That sounds strange as it’s the caffeine that aggregates stomach ulcers - increases stomach acid production. I believe decaffeinated does the same thing. I found this link which advises what foods & drinks to avoid with an ulcer. It includes many of the things I reduced or avoided in my diet after it was discovered many years ago I over produced acid & had a couple of (thankfully very small) ulcers. May be worth a chat with your & dietician for alternatives (temporarily going plant based may be a solution??). You don’t want to consume anything which may exacerbate your ulcer & prolong its healing. https://www.drugs.com/cg/diet-for-stomach-ulcers-and-gastritis.html All the best. 1 Sunnyway reacted to this
